Putting a face to what you read in the news. Until last Friday, I served our nation working as a Research Ecologist with the US Geological Survey (USGS). As a federal scientist, I provided robust, defensible information to support good decisions in natural resource management.

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

As a result, she said, just three full-time employees remain in both the Yellowstone and Bozeman ranger districts to manage 19 rental cabins, 60 bathrooms, 21 campgrounds and other infrastructure spread across 1 million acres. www.bozemandailychronicle.com/townnews/wor...

Something from the home screen folder I was driving back from the store when I saw this shot. Only had a cheesy old pocket camera but you use what you have. Turned out to be one of my favorite shots.

It's perhaps hard to believe right now, but it's just a matter of a few weeks until we'll see the apple blossom again! #bskyart #linocut #UKGiftHour #songbird #naturelovers sarahrobinsondesigns.etsy.com/listing/5709...

While I wait for the email that tells me whether I’ve been fired or spared, here’s a thread of things I’ve had the privilege of working on, experiencing, and accomplishing in my 10 months as a federal employee at the Storm Prediction Center. 1/?

The Tenafly Nature Center has a “fairy trail,” which is just a regular trail dotted with fairy houses and friends, I think everyone should just log off and go there.

I have my favorite landscape photos in the home screen folder. This one is of Mammoth Hot Springs, first light, mid January, about -25°F I was keeping the camera in my shirt to keep it warm.

Exciting news! We’re thrilled to announce that tapir Yuna gave birth to a rare and endangered Malayan tapir calf Sunday night. The newborn, covered in distinctive white spots and stripes resembling a fuzzy walking watermelon, is only the second tapir born in our 120-year history.

Oh wow. Full video from Bishop Eaton, who concludes w/the story of Saint Lawrence, who defied a Roman emperor by insisting the riches of the church were the poor and needy. Eaton concludes: “he was martyred for that. Be of good courage, church, and let us preserve.” www.youtube.com/watch?v=Liqz...

Something from the home screen folder. One of my favorite photos

"Folks, Benedict Arnold, not many people have heard of him, Radical Left doesn't like him! Very good general, Revolutionary War, tried to convince Canada to join us but they turned down his very fine offer! Was an EGG GUY too! This country needs more generals like Benedict!"
