Today, @governor.ca.gov officially launched the new State Rail Plan, with few changes from last month's soft launch. The plan recommits to VMT reduction, calls for 1500 mi of electrified rail by 2050, and promotes important reforms. Here's a first look at what's in it: www.gov.ca.gov/2025/01/07/c...

My dream was different to other kids, & they didn’t get my obsession to own ancient woodland I am now living my dream, but it is physically & emotionally overwhelming, given how precious & irreplaceable it is My parents legacy paid for it, and it is my immortal memory of them

Everyone over on Instagram loved this so much I thought I’d share here. Winter apple tree and birds. Shropshire.

Baby Ruth and the Sweet Treats sisters are really coming along. Every day they become a little more brave and a little more comfortable and are even starting to be affectionate, seeking out pets. Baby Ruth will let you pick her up & enjoyed some time sitting on my lap which was the best Xmas gift.

“When the dark comes rising, six shall turn it back…” It’s 20 Dec—Winter Solstice Eve—& the day Susan Cooper’s great, cult novel The Dark Is Rising opens. Simon McBurney & I co-adapted a 12-part audio-drama of Susan’s novel. You can listen along, an ep a day, here: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand...

Happy Winter Solstice to all in the northern hemisphere. The turn of the year's tide, a pivot-point, a day of hope—when the dark stops rising & after which the Sun begins its slow climb back. A day I celebrate more than Christmas or New Year. Fiat lux! 📷 by @annieworsley.bsky.social

I'm grateful that, despite the terrible effects of #StormDarrah, my home & animals have escaped unscathed. The damage to the trees will impact greatly here. I have to think positively though... new habitat and more light into many parts..... Find out more: youtu.be/3O-RWxXS-9g

Again, try mentally tracing just the red/pinks/blush-purples in this. They're in the white, the green, the blue. And zoom in — that *incredibly* vibrant, rounded blue is made up of patches of different bblues and violets. And look closer... #artthoughts

Legend has it, Brunel’s Box Tunnel in Wiltshire, was built to align with the sun so it shines all the way through each 9th April, on Brunel's birthday. It is said to be haunted. Some say the spooky sounds of a phantom train echo along the tracks. 🚊👻 #ghosts #paranormal #railways #tunnels
