Pink Breasted Robin - The Redwoods Otways Shot on Nikon Z FC + Tamron 150-600mm June '24 Spent an hour sitting on a muddy riverbank watching this guy flutter around until he was comfortable enough to be landing a few meters away.

β€˜We owe it to the thousands of children who have been killed to pause and open ourselves up to the fullness of the little lives that were snatched away.’ Goodbye to the slain children of Gaza. You were loved, you are remembered, you did not deserve it. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

A juvenile galah who was incredibly tolerant of my attention πŸ₯° Here you can see the youngster's nictitating membrane over its eye - a third, transparent eyelid that birds can close for protection against dust, wind, foliage etc, while still allowing some visibility. #WildOz #NatureWriting πŸͺΆπŸ§ͺ🌿

This is such a great thread. Let me add that there is nothing that you, an individual, can do, that will scale because you are one person. The people arguing that you should only do things that β€œscale” are justifying not doing anything.

Can I offer you an Emotional Support Slug in these trying times? This beautiful black-margined nudibranch from Gordons Bay today has entered its unicorn-era with one rhinophore missing! πŸ§ͺπŸ™πŸ¦‘

Life is pretty grim right now. Here's my #starterpack of writers, historians and institutes sharing quirky medical and science content that might serve as a welcome distraction. Make your corner of the world weird and wonderful. Never stop learning. go.bsky.app/3DuVT6Z

This is the truth of our history, and on January 26, the very least we can do is acknowledge it

We need good journalists more than ever. Here are some great ones working in the climate space. Follow them. Amplify them. Support them if you can.

Thanks to all your amazing enthusiasm I got to write about this most spikeliciously cute li'l guy πŸ˜„ Learnt that some of this crablet's brethren take rides on sea piglets! πŸ§ͺ🌿 #inverts #NatureWriting

Sure is a bad time to be a person who cares about things.

This will get almost no attention. It fucking should though. The combustion of coal, oil and gas is killing one of the most remarkable and important places on the planet before our eyes, and most people are looking away instead.

We all need these gang-gang smiles 🀩πŸͺΆπŸŒπŸ§ͺ🌿

A series of savage lurches from intensely dry to fiercely wet conditions helped fuel the horrific winter fires we're witnessing in LA. This 'hydroclimate whiplash' has increased considerably due to our warming atmosphere's ability to store more water. #NatureWriting πŸ§ͺ 🌏 #Climate

This is so true though 🀣

Good analysis of why fact checking on social media matters in a world where false claims are sticky + go viral so fast. But no mention of how X + Meta have altered their algorithms to suppress expert accounts & factual info. Fact checking on those platforms isn’t a level field. It’s a steep cliff.
