Apparently it's possible to shame the author of "How to Fight Anti-Semitism" into deleting her tweet promoting the article she published, written by a white supremacist, defending "ironic" Nazi salutes

Canadian journalists are usually barred from entering Iran. The Globe's @geoffreyyork.bsky.social was able to visit recently. His article on the changes he saw since he last reported from this country years ago. www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/c0f8440... gift link for first 20 readers

This is quite significant in many ways: the overt thuggery, Trump’s barely suppressed fury at being contradicted by a woman, the governor’s standing up, the total abandonment of the pretense of federalism, the continuing use of trans Americans the way Hitler used Jews.

So this week they tried to neutralize the AP and Reuters, the two most important wire news services in the country?

i know ppl here do not enjoy screenshots of X but this one is such a great encapsulation of what it's become

"These notions—AI can replace workers, the government should function like a startup—are not meant to describe reality; they are meant to create a permission structure for those in power to obtain more of it."

It would be great if you all who follow me could amplify this story by reposting and liking and doing all the things that boost these things on social media platforms. Trans folks: you can fight back against Trump’s executive orders by becoming plaintiffs. www.advocate.com/news/transge...

Andreessen Horowitz hiring Daniel Perry exemplifies what debates over preferential treatment are really all about. White men are actually rewarded professionally and personally by other white men for their willingness to commit acts of violence against people who threaten white male dominance.

It’s so happening. ny1.com/nyc/all-boro...

Having watched with growing alarm the developments of the last 24 and 36 hours in Washington, I thought I’d take a stab at how the US media would cover this story if it was happening in a foreign country. Here’s that story that should be written this weekend: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/musk-s-jun...

If you cannot call it what it is when all in a week: a government removes every mention of a group of people, destroys information about them en masse, bans their discussion in schools, restricts their ability to travel and starts seizing and refusing their official identification, when will you?

The shuttering of public health data about trans people at the same time they're banning health care and threatening doctors who support trans people means it's not just censorship (though it's certainly that). It's an attempt to hide the evidence.

From a journalist friend: Just spreading the word. The CDC is purging data, so people should archive their favorite CDC datasets today, namely ones around race/ethnic diversity, LGBTQ, and reproductive health. Also health data involving climate. The youth risk behavior survey has already gone down.

Here's an interesting thing about "DEI". Avowed GC women are now learning that to right-wing men, THEY are DEI. Nancy Mace's rabid enforcement of cissexism and transmisogyny is not sparing her from Matt Walsh's misogyny, from the misogyny that treats all women who "overreach" as undeserving.

I loved how the evil archbishop in Conclave was seen occasional hitting his matching cherry red vape. Very nefarious.

Trump's freezing of all civil rights cases at the DOJ is not part of an anti-DEI agenda, but an anti-civil rights agenda. DOJ was *founded* to protect Black rights during Reconstruction. That this difference is unclear speaks to the success of conservative propagandists and the failures of liberals.

A remarkable, historic document: The federal government’s first defense in court of the Trump administration restriction of birthright citizenship for the children of undocumented immigrants. Actual lawyers signed this brief. I hope everyone reads it. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Merely hiring a person of color in any desirable role is gonna get categorized as a verboten “DEI effort.” Mark my words.

Oops. Though, knock on wood, this feels less horrible than when I last had Covid in July 2022.

Birthright citizenship is literally the legal device that prevented the South from putting Black people back in chains. I wish more people would say this.
