The same DOJ atty filed a bizarre lawsuit against UVA's SJP & FJP last year—168 pgs about "secret portals" & the glory of The Lawn. After my wife enrolled, he amended it to say she & I were both part of "a wing" of "an arm" of Hamas. These are the top civil rights officers in the U.S. right now.

might I just say

The “nice place you got here; it'd be a shame if it caught fire” school of legal argument.

Great and important essay. (It’s paywalled, but I’m told there are websites to get around that.)

This is much needed and I'm glad that the Middle District of Louisiana is doing this. If you're an attorney in Louisiana, please consider it: Also, where else do you get paid $100/hour for "volunteering"?

I disagree. This is a fully legitimate request. If the government is willing to give up one of their own attorney’s liberty for those 7 days while they figure things out.

Let’s goooooooooo.

Okay, now that it’s official and I have job security, I guess it’s finally safe for me to come out as a centrist Democrat.

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? If the cops shoot your accomplice, you can (in many U.S. jurisdictions) be convicted of murder.

This is the single best piece of art created during Trump II.

Worth noting: Trump is actively dismantling the targeted violence prevention office within DHS. Career public servants in senior positions were being fired/reassigned last week. It is currently being run by this 22-year-old intern. www.propublica.org/article/trum...

Has anyone actually SEEN the lawsuit? I've seen 100 articles saying that it was filed in Florida; I haven't seen a single one actually link to the complaint. Please and thanks!

Also, a special shout-out to the far-right posters (particularly those running the White House's social media), whose incessant smearing of Mahmoud Khalil as an antisemite is part of the reason a preliminary injunction has issued.

I thought the supplemental briefs were ordered (after an 106-page opinion) for further briefing on an interesting Q: Would pursuing the alternative, pretextual (but hypothetically otherwise valid) removal rationale also violate the 1A? But Judge Farbiarz still doesn’t get there!

TIL that Diego Luna was a Zapatista??? BRO

Genuine question: Given the rise of "reverse discrimination" lawsuits under Section 1981 (e.g., suits against law firm diversity fellowships), has anyone sued Birthright Israel? Seems plausibly like a racial preference in contracting (per Shaare Tefila), right?

If you care about amateurism in the college sports, collective bargaining is the only way forward. (And apologies for pedantry, but this settlement didn’t “allow” salaries, which schools could always pay. The NCAA’s anticompetitive collusion was the only bar.) www.nytimes.com/athletic/636...

Just got off a 5-hour flight. Anything going on?

Gay solar! Happy Pride y'all.

“Chickening out” from consummating his worst, most reckless policies is . . . good, actually. Are we all accelerationists now?

Okay, I lied. This was the part that sealed it. The odds of there being TWO people in Central VA who are both very into Isaiah 5:20 AND alien conspiracy theories seems . . . slim. 👽✝️

Armed FBI agents knocked on the doors of two pub defenders at SEVEN AM, asking to talk w them, having made no earlier effort to reach out. Both PDs represented ppl detained by ICE. FBI said they “wanted to reach out before work.” Which is nakedly not true. HARASSING DEFENSE LAWYERS IS REALLY BAD.

So it looks like Charlottesville's most prominent Jewish social media presence (who has sort of been stalking me and my wife for the last few months) is actually a Nazi-adjacent Christian activist. And former City Councilman. Fun! drive.google.com/file/d/1Y3k_...

Andor’s take on data-driven criminal justice policy is pretty spot on.

Welp... AI received some A+s on our law school exams papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

For I was hungry and fearful of starvation, and you shrugged and said we’ll all die some way or another.

They are zip-tying children. They are zip-tying children. They are zip-tying children. Keep saying it. Make them defend it.

Remember about a year ago when numerous Republican legislators went to a sovereign foreign country to help facilitate the release of people held in their prisons? (And, also, succeeded.) abcnews.go.com/Politics/tur...
