Me to daughter: Be careful where you walk Poppy this week, there's a yellowjacket nest in this part of the yard and the wasps are building a nest outside the kitchen window. I'm out of wasp spray. Daughter: Are there any SAFE places? Me: It's summer! THERE ARE NO SAFE PLACES.

I managed to take out the trash without getting snake bit or eaten by a bear.

So far this weekend, I stuck my shovel in a yellowjacket nest and got stung and then tonight I gave myself a severe cut while making dinner…looking forward to going to work tomorrow where I’ll be safe.

lol what happened here

*taps mic* Hi, there! I’ve lived all over the country, wet, dry, hot, cold, and high humidity will not only kill your ass dead faster than anything else, it will suuuuuck the entire time you’re dying. Your low resting heart rate won’t do shit when your sweat is a marinade instead of a coolant.

Y’all if you write about how you use AI to do the work of writing I am just going to block you and never read your books or think about you again.

I went out and said good morning to the yellowjackets this morning. It wasn't a good morning for them.

If only all bishops, archbishops and cardinals (not just parish-level priests and religious, who have stood with immigrants forever, but the hierarchy) across the nation would do the same.

I found a yellowjacket nest today. They won the battle. I will win the war.

#PrideStorybundle #Booksky Check out a mini interview thread with author @brentclambert.bsky.social, whose terrific gay novella A NECESSARY CHAOS is in the 2025 Pride StoryBundle!

It's Pride month and if you like horror and have never read his work, I want to introduce you to @mcmanlypants.bsky.social. His latest work is CHILDREN OF SOLITUDE: a.co/d/0uQmDEa and it is the perfect mix of horror and hope:

Yes. I am right. I am seeing how Chat GPT is ruining students critical thinking and writing skills in real time. It is not the future. It is a tool designed to render the populace helpless, to make people doubt their innate intelligence, and to foster overreliance on technology.

If Bluesky is so dead and terrible, why are the Nazis trying so hard to get here and create drama? Is it because without normal people dunking on them and spreading their propaganda they're impotent? Yes, methinks so. Keep blocking and ignoring them.

Hey Bluesky, could you help me spread the word about my Etsy shop? A sale or two would be a colossal help. All of my creations are designed, hand-sewn, hand-embroidered by me. Each takes many hours to make. jeremycreature.etsy.com

How you can tell we’re having a thunderstorm:

This is what I did with Miserere. The women in the story aren't perfect. They make mistakes and bad decisions, because that is what we do. Some women slip naturally into motherhood and others struggle.

I watched THE LAST SHOWGIRL last night and Pamela Anderson was magnificent. I loved all the women in this film because Gia Coppola and Kate Gersten presented the women as fully dimensional people. They weren't perfect. They were human. Brava.

Excellent article on pitfalls in publishing contracts.

It is hotter than the hinges of hell and where does Emerson want to be right now? Correct. In my lap. A fat fuzzy cat, purring and making biscuits.

Note that neither baseball cap/masked guy nor black t-shirt guy have badges or any insignia that identifies them as police officers. Also, who is white t-shirt guy just behind baseball cap guy? Is he just mad b/c someone stepped on his foot? Or is he with ICE? Can't they afford uniforms?

Things that scare my dog: thunderstorms, the telephone…

I'm reading The Bog Wife by Kay Chronister (F) and Vampires, Burial & Death by Paul Barber (NF) and enjoying both immensely. What are you reading this week?

This is the perfect thread and sort of goes into what I was talking about last week. I don't want politics/rage being thrown into my feed b/c "engagement." The only engagement I got from that was high blood pressure. That's not why I'm on social media. I'm here for the artists and art.
