Before you criticize Spurs or Ange, do this exercise: Pick any team. Take away their 2 best keepers. Then pick their best 6 defenders and take away 5. Then pick any 3 from their attacking players and discard the rest. Then give half of those remaining an illness. Who beats this Newcastle side then?

Two things stood out to me about Ange’s Spurs last weekend: the absence of both Solanke and Deki’s ability to receive and hold the ball up in midfield, and (related) the poor quality of the passes coming out of defence looking to transition into attack. Countless unforced turnovers from that alone.
