Here is a good lecture on vaccination by Prof. Vincent Racaniello. "Vaccines do not protect against infection. They protect against disease." www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TwI... Your immune system is NOT a force field or a space suit. It is an army.

Great documentary. More than worth your time. I would like more science, but science wasn't the subject, so I can't fault it for that. I am just longing for a good documentary that adequately explains the science. There are some, but they are really old, such as: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3dO...

Here is something that many people don't seem to know about weight loss: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuIl...

A trip back in time. What were people told about cholesterol in 1975? For perspective, I was 14 years old at the time, but have a good listen to what the Doc says at the very end. It is just as valid today as it was at the time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUq2...

This is something extraordinary, at least for me. I am working on a medical report about a patient with a BMI of 19. In the about 30 years I have worked in this field, I cannot remember ever having seen such a 'low' BMI in a patient report.

This is what extremes accomplish: death and suffering. No sane person will claim that physical activity is bad for us, but every sane person will tell you that *too much* is terrible for you. Same is true for any and all foods, by the way. www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/20...

1/ Here is what AI (so-called artificial intelligence) comes up with when asked to construct a food plan that contains at least 3 kg of food and no more than 1000 kcal. According to my calculator: Weight: 200+100+50+ 200+50+ 200+100+100+ 200+ 200+100+100= 1600 g

Since Trump never lies, I must be too thick to notice that his prophecy became reality, just as he promised: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V07...

Here is something that modern Americans seem to have forgotten, despite @GardnerPhD's efforts to remind them. Why lentils are even better than beef: This is Julia Child in 1970: youtu.be/MGQzuQEdDgA?... This is Christopher Gardner in 2017: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj3o...

Here is an example of food waste. It makes zero sense to cut off and discard the tops of carrots (it also does not make sense to peel them): youtu.be/Evpa5z65AmM?...

Here is an example of useless "advice" for chopping onions. It is useless because it ignores the physical structure of an onion: youtu.be/Evpa5z65AmM?...

On the other hand, firing people for no reason at all, killing those they served, helps them tremendously. There can be no doubt about that all. What a brilliant and heroic thing to do.

Here is an example of how even @EatLentils promotes nonsense to its own detriment. Let's be clear, lentils are NOT missing essential amino acids. youtu.be/Ez1z9zzOKdA?...

Here is something for the Truly Lazy like me: a mixture of beans, peas, lentils and grains cooked in the rice cooker with some industrial spaghetti sauce as a condiment. Surprisingly good.

1/ I obviously made a Good Buy. I just finished listening to the introduction "Disassembly required" of @HermanPontzer 's "Adaptable". It brings back so many memories, some pleasant, some not. My dissection days are decades behind me, but I still marvel at both the diversity and

I guess my age is showing. Because I am so busy with work, I got frustrated that I have no time to read @HermanPontzer 's Adaptable for now, so I bought the audiobook as well. Now I can walk around in my room a bit while listening. Kill two birds with one stone. Great!

Here is a nice idea for people who have a breadmaker. Add beans/lentils/peas to your dough. It works just great. The beans can be seen in the slice, but the bread is no more dense than it usually is. This is a whole wheat flour loaf with added whole beans/lentils/peas/grains.

Justice, MAGA style. You voted for this, America. Let's hope you manage to survive it. youtu.be/g3kcdtKM7BQ?...

This is what MAHA (make America hungry again) is striving for: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjrI...

Google just told me that @HermanPontzer's new book "Adaptable" is now available. I have a job to deliver in a few hours so I don't have time to start reading just now, but I couldn't help but page a little and I noticed one of my favourite subjects. Looks promising!

Traditional basic whole wheat bread made in a bread maker. 3 ingredients: whole wheat flour, water, yeast. Contrary to popular claims, any and all other ingredients are completely optional.

1/ Interesting video on fibre by @mariokratz.bsky.social In his typical dispassionate and objective style, Mario Kratz discusses different aspects of fibre, a nutrient that has always fascinated me, mainly because of the promise that it is satiating. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T38Q...

No sane person will claim that Belgium is a paradise, but its attitude towards euthanasia is one of the least immature on this planet.

A nice example of how intelligent AI is: it seems that rice in Japan is sold per 5 kilometres:
