One week from today! Get busy pre-ordering, or get busy dying! (that rhymed better in my head.)

First ride of the year. Don't know what's more embarrassing: the horrible time, how uncomfortably tight my riding pants were, or when I wiped out because my shoestring got tangled around my pedal and pulled me off the bike.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? You could do worse than listen to me ramble, stammer, and babble for 90+ minutes on Horror from the High Desert. I even managed to keep the F-bombs to a minimum this time. (For me, at least. ) open.spotify.com/episode/1wbS...

The people have spoken.

Two for Tuesday! Or two for flinching. Your choice. W/ @bridgettnelson.bsky.social and @jeffstrand.bsky.social

Is me! With a record-low number of F-Bombs!

Look at this snazzy blurb from @leemurraywriter.bsky.social !

Just finished season 3 of From. Was NOT prepared for that ending.

is me!

So there's this famous horror podcast called Talking Scared that you've probably heard of. Well, Neil McRobert, host of said pod, was kind enough to give my book a gander. And he loved it! I hope y'all do, too. @talkscaredpod.bsky.social

Can you believe it? Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review! (somebody pinch me!)

Time for another blurb! This time from all-around good egg @mothman13.bsky.social Pre-order live at the 'zon. Order before March 4th and it's just $2.99!

Another great Goodreads review! Keep 'em coming...

My first review is in. And it's a keeper! Many thanks to @horrorreads.bsky.social

A blurb from @claymcleod.bsky.social ? Yes, please. Buy it before March 4th and save 25%! (Probably? I can't math. But it's only $2.99 for a limited time!) a.co/d/6uXLT6T

f you're a patreon for Crystal Lake, don't forget to vote in this month's contest. Poll closes Thursday night at midnight. There are some really great stories this month. Mine happens to feature a certain trail you might have seen me post about recently. www.patreon.com/posts/120946...

Do you like cosmic horror? Of course you do. Do you like dogs? Who doesn't? Wanna save a buck on the book @pfracassi.bsky.social called "a maze of crashing dimensions filled with monsters and madness? Well, duh. Then preorder my new novella, The Eris Ridge Trail, for just $2.99! a.co/d/cqUMhQC

Go see my new cover!

My dogs are not impressed with the blurb I just got for my new novella, The Eris Ridge Trail, but I am both flabbered and gasted by it. I can't share it yet, or say who it's from, but I can say they're easily one of my favorite writers, and probably one of yours. I'm still pinching myself.

I have been remiss in promoting this fine piece of literature from @crystallake.bsky.social, which includes my cryptid story "Batsquatch Lives!" Hotel Macabre Vol.1: Tales of Horror a.co/d/1Pc0HIO

Which is the proper response to this email? We created the first AI copywriting tool trained to produce elite-level copy instantly. Would you be down to try it out 7 days free? A) Yeah, you can fuck right off with that AI bullshit B) No offense, but you can fuck right off with that AI bullshit

Hey come check us out on the Lovecraft Ezine podcast at 6:00! We'll be talking about The Rack with @horrortom.bsky.social, Kristin Dearborn and Erick Nunnally! www.youtube.com/live/1pNC6pw...

Got new glasses a couple weeks ago. Left eye in new specs was great, but right eye was shite. Finally went in today to make sure the lens was made correctly. Turns out they mistyped the prescription. One of the numbers was supposed to be 25, but they entered .25. Crisis averted!

Hey look, a new book! Featuring my super-fun story "Mindfuckery" plus some other bangers. a.co/d/9jyHw9x

Aw, Amazon's AI was nice enough to summarize the paltry number of reviews my collection has received.

‘One for the Road’ by Wesley Southard (@wesleysouthard.bsky.social) brings to mind old school horror in the vein of Brian Keene and Richard Laymon with a chaotic finale that turns the WTF factor all the way up to eleven!

As if mortgaging the team's future to sign an "alleged" sexual predator as QB wasn't enough of an FU to the fans, now the owners want us to fork over $1 BILLION to help build a new domed stadium in the burbs? They can fuck right off is what they can do. www.cleveland.com/opinion/2024...

I thought those idiots at Spine(less) were using AI to write 8,000 books a year. But the reality might be even worse: they're charging users between $1,200-5,000 to have their books edited, proofed, formatted & designed with the help of AI. In other words, it's just an AI-powered vanity press.

#kindle deals are here! Nothing over $2.99, w/ works by @bobford.bsky.social, @sgj.bsky.social, @gwenda.bsky.social, @vlatinalondon.bsky.social, @joshmalerman.bsky.social, @candacenola.bsky.social, @thatscarylarry.bsky.social, @redlagoe.bsky.social & more! #horror #ad #books amzn.to/3Kj4Uoq

So much spooky!

I have a new novella coming out next March! It's currently out for blurbs with some of my favorite writers, and I got initial cover concepts yesterday from the inimitable @francois-art.bsky.social! Things are looking spooky my friends. Very, very spooky.

From the @vortexbooksncomics.bsky.social newsletter: "Some early ones are Owen King, Rio Youers, Joe R. Lansdale & Chet Williamson. And probably @toddkeisling.bsky.social, Larry Hinkle & John Urbancik because they basically live at the store." Related: Need to leave a toothbrush next time I visit.

Oh hey, here's another new anthology I'm in. It's a Godless exclusive now, goes up on the 'zon soon. My story is called "Mindfuckery." godless.com/collections/...

yes, please. movieweb.com/coherence-2-...

My bio describes me as "the least famous author nobody's heard of" so this review is totally on-brand. "That Chemical Glow by Larry Hinkle. I’m not sure if I’ve ever read anything by Hinkle, but this one also really captures that vintage horror magic. It’s a fantastic story!" shorturl.at/qJNRB

I'm not a giallo fan, but this album scratches an itch I didn't know I had. It's a real soundtrack to a fake movie, complete with Italian dialogue. I've always dug Uncle Acid, but this is on a whole new level for the band. Bonus: it's great to write to.

Got busy and forgot to post the rest of my October movies. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to 31 this year. Guess I'll have to watch harder in 2025! Night of the Living Dead: 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 Trick 'r Treat: 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 Caddo Lake: 🎃🎃🎃🎃 Bone Tomahawk: 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 The Stone Tape: 🎃🎃 Oculus: 🎃🎃🎃.5

Don't know how long it will last, but my collection is on sale for just $12.90 at Amazon. Get it while it lasts! a.co/d/djgWNAT

This year's final setup. Still a few things I didn't get out, but there's always next year.
