Hey all. I’m having intrusive thoughts for the first time in years. I need to delete the app for a while so I can realign. Should be back 6/14 for the demo.

Tesla Takedown in Boston.

DOJ and DHS again at odds over the deporation of Jordin Melgar-Salmeron in violation of a federal appeals court order Left: DOJ says "series of unintentional administrative errors" led to deportation. Right: DHS says "There was no 'error.'" Earlier: www.politico.com/news/2025/05...

Foreign nationals with $5 million to spare will soon be able to register for a new "gold card" visa program President Trump says would give them the right to live and work permanently in the United States. But key details about the program remain unclear.

The Supreme Court declined to take up two challenges to gun-control laws in Maryland and Rhode Island, with three conservative justices saying that they would have granted the petition. Check out this Kavanaugh dissent that argues AR-15s are in "common use." www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...

The first time Trump and Republicans targeted the Affordable Care Act, it was a disaster for the party. As Republicans try again, Dems would be wise to let the public know what the inaptly named “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” would do to the ACA. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

NEW: Important Context spoke with a dozen people working at NIH about Director Jay Bhattacharya. The descriptions were universally unflattering, painting the health economist as ineffectual, dishonest, ideological, arrogant, and uncommitted to science. www.importantcontext.news/p/out-of-his...

Important reporting for those wondering (and it's a real question to ask) why all of these DHS/ ICE agents look so unprofessional.

The Republican tax bill won’t just kick millions off their health care, it will SPIKE premiums and RAISE costs for EVERYONE. The cuts to Medicaid, attacks on the ACA, and surge in uninsured Americans will even force hospitals to close their doors. Congress needs to REJECT these cuts.

“Sometimes, you can’t fucking move without drawing half a dozen drones to your position." More: www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

My "US will never default on its debt" T-shirts has a lot of people asking questions that are answered by my T-shirt.

The Washington Examiner (the conservative news outlet) reports that Stephen Miller screamed at ICE officials: "What do you mean you're going after criminals? Why aren't you at Home Depot? Why aren't you at 7-Eleven?" Kinda blows up the narrative that they care about public safety.

Miller is an incredibly dangerous person, a fascist’s fascist who actively seeks to create chaos and terror.

You can argue the federal government shouldn’t spend as much on Medicaid. You can argue that CBO’s projections of people losing health coverage are over-estimated. You can’t argue that cuts to Medicaid of over $700 billion over a decade won’t result in people losing coverage.

New from @chloeneast.bsky.social at Can We Still Govern: AEI cited her work to make the case for SNAP work requirements. Chloe explains that her and other research show that work requirements reduce SNAP access while doing nothing for employment outcomes. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/what-aei-g...

Curtis Yarvin goes on @cnn.com, confirms that he wants a monarchy to replace democracy, says racist things and informs @hadasgold.bsky.social that he's in touch with Trump staffers. Nice to see the mainstream press catch up on this dangerously weird ideology. www.cnn.com/2025/05/31/p...

If you’ve never heard Curtis Yarvin speak, you’re in for a shock.

The Supreme Court also took up this very interesting Fourth Amendment case asking when cops can enter a home without a warrant based on their belief that an emergency is taking place. www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/24...

I mean this chart shows that most *Trump voters* do indeed approve all this shit. Unpopular with the general public but Trump voters are only a third of "US adults" (with non-voters and Harris voters)

A Trump intermediary tells CNN’s parent company that they can buy peace with Trump by making a highly flattering documentary about Melania Trump or a TV show about Trump Jr, which would involve paying the Trump family large amounts of money. The move appears to meet the legal standard for extortion.

This is heartbreaking. Listen to Ming Li "Carol" Hui, from ICE detention, break down in tears as she contemplates having to leave her family behind. She has no criminal record and had permission from ICE to stay despite a removal order for over a decade — yet Trump's revoking it.

For weeks I have been arguing that the law firms that capitulated to Trump were not only immoral but made a bad business decision. Looks like I was right. www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...

Get the sense that attack in Colorado was the work of a single individual and thus hard to prevent. But worth recalling how how many FBI have already been pulled off counterterrorism and other forms of crimes for immigrant round up duty.

Yup, and Dems need to start saying this. It's a great time to be a criminal, there's no more fed law enforcement, they're all sipping coffee cosplaying in military gear while waiting for law-abiding migrants on their way out of immigration hearings.

To be very clear: this is the most profoundly, aggressively and unabashedly anti-First Amendment administration in the past 100 years, and arguably ever. Anything asserted to the contrary is hypocrisy and noise intended to distract.

CNBC allows Markwayne Mullin to lie with impunity that Republicans aren't cutting Medicaid benefits (they are cutting Medicaid benefits)

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) flippantly dismissed voters’ concerns in recent days that people could die if Republicans cut Medicaid as they’ve promised to do in President Trump’s sprawling immigration and tax package. “Well, we all are going to die,” Ernst said. wapo.st/4mGpili

Ming Li Hui, who has lived in a Missouri town for 20 years, is getting deported. This has shocked and angered the locals, many of whom back Trump. She spoke to us on our podcast straight from jail. She broke down in tears and made a wrenching appeal. Listen: newrepublic.com/article/1959...

We recorded this immigrant facing deportation on our podcast straight from jail. It got really intense. She broke down in tears and spoke powerfully of her gratitude toward Trump voters who support her. This captures the cruelty of Trump's deportations in a way you haven't heard before. Listen:

Law enforcement officers should never cover their faces when making arrests or conceal their identities (unless they are working undercover). They work for us. We have a right to know who they are. These face coverings are frightening & unAmerican, as though they're ashamed of what they're doing.

Lying is and has always been second nature to them.

Logistics are collapsing in Russia as paranoid military and police authorities check every truck for Ukrainian drones. Long queues everywhere. This is exactly why Ukraine released details of how they carried out yesterday’s ingenious strike on strategic bombers.

Certain type of person whenever Russia successfully attacks Ukraine: "this war is so clearly over, Ukraine needs to give up already to prevent more people getting needlessly killed" Exact same person whenever Ukraine successfully attacks Russia: "Ukraine's senseless aggression will kill us all!"

@jamestalarico.bsky.social: "It's reverse Robinhood. It's welfare for the wealthy. And it's a travesty that this [private school voucher] scam has passed into law here in Texas. But we should do everything we can to stop this from happening at the federal level."

Many of our billionaires are richer than any pharaoh or king in the history of the world, while a family lifestyle that could be comfortably supported by a single income in 1980 takes two people working full-time to maintain today. https://trib.al/X9l4PzM

It happens every few generations: It’s what drove Confederate oligarchs to attempt succession in the 1860s; robber barons to murder union organizers at the turn of the 20th century; and it’s why wages have stagnated since the Reagan revolution. The rise of greedy oligarchs. https://trib.al/8h7BsDK

Now that Trump has blasted Leonard Leo, don't let the right wing sanitize the Federalist Society. Its members have been supporting voter suppression for years, its judges are among the hardest on voters. What will come from Trump now will be far worse, but do not judge democracy on a curve.
