Wouldn't it be nice if we tried to understand each other?

I wrote this prophetic piece back in the days of Occupy Wall Street: ebpxlehujvhuhwvm.quora.com/An-open-lett... Someone called my attention to it, and I couldn't believe that I went on as long as I did on the topic.

My rambling on an all-too-serious question.

A conclusion to the examination of washing machine Tariffs. It's well trodden territory, but it's also where the story ends.

When we talk about sea levels rising, I've always heard the adage that Florida will be under water. Turns out Louisiana is suffering far worse: www.factcheck.org/2017/03/land...

Oh, yea, here's a good plan that's hard to swallow: www.reddit.com/r/economicCo...

Just deleted my twenty year old Facebook account. I think that prevents me from logging into Goodreads, but I won't miss that. Zuck it, Suckerberg.

;;Here is the original article that started in on the analysis of tariffs.

Trump's washing machine tariffs were never an anti-China action. thaumechanic.substack.com/p/tariff-nar...

Two good things about Trump. 1. He can't keep his mouth shut, so his evil plans leak like a sieve. 2. He's completely unreliable and quite an idiot, so the schemers can't be subtle around him.

Can anyone tell me how to find the number of washing machines that US Tariffs were collected on in 2022? the numbers are elusive. Someone in the government has to have that number, but which department? #tariffs #washingmachine #economics

Thou shalt like this post just because you’re an atheist but you think this God is super chill.

Philosophizing about #netneutrality today. We used to have a standard of charging for something based on how much it cost to create. The digital economy broke that. Who is ready for Comcast to sell you access to Wikipedia as a premium service?

I'm watching Robot Carnival on Prime tonight. It's one of those things that, as a fan of the genre, I can't believe I missed it. Maybe it just hadn't been released in the US? @90sanimepics.bsky.social #anime

Weird question. I never spent time on X née Twitter, so could someone recommend a few tags to watch? #journalism #mediabias

My personal attempt at fixing the world is called the Memetic Firewall. It's kind of like an immune system for the brain. Here's my latest entry in that blog. #memetics #newsanalysis

I have a question for auto mechanics. Do you wind up memorizing the sizes of bolts on the cars you work on? I can see how that would be helpful, but I would think you would make generalized rules, like "If it's built in the US, it uses imperial, and prefers 5/8 over 11/16" or something like that.
