after hearing from several of you last night, i think i have a general structure for this. it's subject to change based on feedback, but if you're a current, fired, or currently-being-litigated federal worker, i want to hear from you. here are the details.

Now that the Republicans have axed special education programs, they're going to go after the ADA. They're going to go after disability. My transportation program is the only way to get to my doctors. It's how I survive. Nazis came after the disabled early last time around. We are not safe.

I wrote about the worst people in the world, charting the depths of their depravity and vastness of their incompetence, and offered some thoughts about the opportunity presented by their failure to acknowledge reality and their refusal to access any form of human virtue. www.the-reframe.com/the/

This is awesome!

I've noticed a massive influx of a particular type of bot on Bluesky They've learned open MAGAs, Nazis & their ilk get mass banned on sight, so they put progressive indicators in their bios (pro-union, anti-fash, etc) But check the comments to find every last one is a critique of a unifying issue

Neighborhood clouds! I love this idea ledcoyote.com/blog/communi...

Here is a personal story about class, gender and political orientation that no white NYT pundit in a diner was going to capture but explains so much about Nazi incels wreaking havoc in DC. I was a young assistant professor newly arrived in the city and matched by the usual apps to a staffer 1/

Take a step back, see what's happening. Trump took office and abruptly gave the richest guy on earth free rein to unmake the US government without any White House oversight or coordination. That guy has been publicly radicalized into an increasingly open white supremacist and conspiracy theorist.

DOGE is, in the truest sense, a completely rogue agency. The White House has admitted it doesn't really know what DOGE is doing, it's commandeering critical systems, it's resourced by an independent oligarch, it's tearing chunks out of the government. It's a rogue actor in US government

Another myth 🧵 This one is tricky as it challenges a neoliberal paradigm that a lot of progressives have adopted. The myth of 'taxpayer funding'. Let's take this one slowly and use some monumentally crap pictures to illustrate (I'm not proud). [1/n]

Popular or not Dems cannot bend on the need for trans people to be treated with basic humanity and respect. If we give up that because the right made trans people unpopular, we give up everything. They’ll dice us group by group like a salami. We die on this hill or we die alone in a ditch

I do not know a single person in DC who has not been directly negatively impacted by the "sudden disassembly in flight" of the U.S. government. In most cases the impact is major and professional and pyschological as well as economical. You might shrug it off and say, "It's about time."

I can’t help but feel like Perdido Street Station is an elaborate Plato joke

I don't get the sense that U.S. journalists have a good sense of who to talk to when basic government functions are being ripped out. Gutting the administrative state is not a standard beat. A short thread with some starter suggestions for who to read/talk to. Please - people add more in replies!

A reminder that you should recite to yourself every morning until late Feburary: it is Month One of this administration, they will not be any stronger than they are this week, and they will not be any more popular than they are this week. We win if we endure.

All right y’all, so here’s the deal. We’re struggling. Our monthly goal is to sell 1500 books. This month, we’ve sold less than 400. We need your help. We HAVE to sell 1500 books by the end of Feb to keep our doors open. This was supposed to be a video, but Bluesky can't do 2 mins of video(Thread)

“He finds in MAGA not just gaucherie and unloveliness, but also a hatred of things that are beautiful and strange, as all the things he loves are.”

Looking at the first week of the new administration, it certainly seems like the theme of this new administration is going to be "there is a reason you don't do that." There's a reason you don't appoint violent alcoholics to run the department of defense...

Welcome Back. 🐕
