Hey, when we are rebuilding this, can we please incorporate Restorative Justice into our culture? Can you imagine a culture where we could truly listen and connect with one another? I’ve witnessed this process so many times. It changes people.

Unitive Justice calls us to rise to a level beyond the norm. Here, a generosity of spirit may be extended that, when present, diminishes the desire for retribution or revenge. 1/2

Unitive Justice Theory is grounded on lovingkindness. It moves us from "an eye for an eye" justice to justice based on the Golden Rule -"Do to others what you would have done to you"- found in every major sacred text. (From the Alliance of Unitive Justice) www.a4uj.org

Light it on fire!!

Be amazed.

Near Portland, OR? Check out the Portland Peace Team! They hold trainings on de-escalation and non-violent conflict transformation strategies. Much needed skills these days!!

If we want others to see the value in diversity, we have to ask ourselves—are we truly being inclusive? If we want progress, we need to respect each other’s humanity, find common ground, and uphold both freedom and responsibility.

We can’t force people into doing what we want them to do. Sometimes we just have to accept that they aren’t there yet. It’s a sad reality knowing that humanity can do better but it’s not happening. We can grieve this, but don’t let it stop us from doing what is ours to do to create a better world.

We make it work by coming together. Let’s engage in dialogue, not force.

We are allowed to disagree. But it goes too far when disagreement turns into oppression. I think most of us aren’t that extreme. We’re being pushed apart by the loudest voices. And the more divided we are, the weaker we become, making us vulnerable as a whole.

Extremism easily alienates people’s rights and erodes democracy. Too conservative, and you get stuck in the past. Too progressive, and you get stuck in an imagined future. Either way, you lose sight of the reality unfolding now.

On the extremes: government overreach, restrictions on personal freedoms, censorship, toxic groupthink, hostility toward differing views, stonewalling, justifying violence, efforts to strip human services, rigid dogmatic thinking, and little to no acknowledgment of sociocultural complexity or nuance

The 'my way is the right way' mentality exists at both extremes. Political extremism isn’t limited to Trump or MAGA—it exists on the far left too. 😱

The most powerful place to be is here, now.

If you're feeling hopeless and miserable, I cannot possibly overstate how much it helps to just pick one thing you can do that helps people, and do it. You only need to do one person's worth of work. That's all any of us can do. You'll be doing what you can, and there is so much relief in that.

It’s horrifying and overwhelming when leaders disregard accountability. No one wants the future to feel so uncertain. This feels traumatizing. But please remember, the game plan is that we become disempowered and angry. Resist! Resist by staying authentic, compassionate, and engaged in life.

It’s easy to wait for someone else to bring change, but real change happens when we reclaim our personal & collective power. While it may seem out of our control, we are the ones collectively paving the road. Let’s be intentional about what direction it’s heading.

True freedom flourishes when we make choices that consider both our well-being and the needs of those around us. When one of us isn’t free, none of us are free.
