Just make art. It doesn’t have to be good art, you don’t have to make money from it. Just enjoy making it and have fun. Take the pressure off. You’ll find things become much easier when you start making art because you can, rather than over complicating and justifying why you should. #art

To make a sky glow, you need to get rid of all white paper, so the brightest area is the centre of the glow. Progressively get darker the furthest away from the brightest part. Works like a dream! #art #painting #whynotgiveitago #watercolour #watercolor #becreative

Laying the groundwork first by identifying the colours in your reference image, and then working out how to reduce them for a limited palette of a round 5 colours, can really bring harmony to your painting. Why not give it a go? #art #painting #artadvice #watercolor #watercolour

The sun is out, it’s a lovely day, so get off your phone and enjoy the outside world. Your soul will feel refreshed and you’ll probably get more inspiration for your artwork, than endlessly scrolling on your phone. #touchsomegrass #art #artcommunity #artadvice

Painting fluid but opaque lines in acrylics can be tricky. Often you end up with runny transparent paint, or thick opaque paint. Hopefully this may help you get the right consistency. #art #acrylicpainting #artadvice #whynotgiveitago #becreative #painting

Having fun with clingfilm and watercolour. This time I made an abstract landscape. It’s really create if you’re in a creative lull and it opens so many new possibilities. #art #artcommunity #becreative #painting #watercokour #watercolor #whynotgiveitago

How you hold your pencil when drawing or sketching, not only makes a huge difference to the overall look, but also stops any pain in the thumb area from holding it so tightly. #art #artcommunity #becreative #drawing #whynotgiveitago

Watercolour dyes are vibrant and fun to work with, just be aware that they aren’t lightfast, and prolonged daylight will quickly cause fading. #art #artcommunity #watercolour

Two separate demonstration pieces but with the same reference. One was done as a group demonstration in 30 minutes in soft pastels. The other was done as a step by step class over two hours using soft pastels and pastel pencils. Can you tell which is which? Do you prefer one or the other?

Another sketchbook has been filled, so time for a quick sketchbook trawl. All of these are my demonstration pieces for all the drawing classes I’ve taught since September. #sketchbooktrawl #art #artist #drawing

If you struggle with the paint drying too quickly when painting skies in acrylics, let it. Trying to force the paint to go against what it wants to do will only cause frustration. Use it to your advantage, and layer the clouds on a dry surface. With practice, it can look really effective. #art

Thank you for watching our art videos, and helping make dreams come true.

You asked for more simple bite-sized perspective tips, so here is a little more. I’ve tried to keep it as easy to follow as possible. #art #artytips #drawing #perspective #learntodraw

Celebrate every single win, no matter how small. It’s so easy to always focus on what went wrong, which is needed for growth, but too much focus on it can lead to feeling you’re not improving. You also need to look at what went right. Keep creating and slowly you’ll see improvement. #art #artadvice
