At an investment conference in Miami on Wednesday, the president said that the administration is considering a concept in which 20% of the savings produced by DOGE’s cost-cutting efforts goes to American citizens and another 20% goes to paying down the national debt.

Tariffs won’t bring manufacturing to America. Companies won’t invest millions in capex when policy is likely to change in four years. Most facilities would take at least 1-2 years to build anyway. Oh, and then there’s the steel tariffs which would make building machinery even more costly.

It's weirdly difficult to remember that Trump's popular vote margin was /less/ than Hillary's in 2016. Biden got more votes in 2020 than Trump got in 2024 and Trump surrogates all under-performed in congressional races. This is not a mandate, I don't get why it is being portrayed that way.
