A month ago, the idea that the new German chancellor would talk about "independence from the US" would have been unbelievable

Day 52: Luna, the Studio Cat Meet Luna, my companion and studio cat. Most mornings she walks with me from the house to the studio, stretching out in the morning sunlight. As the sun moves, so does she. Perhaps on top of the storage cupboard, on my desk, on the art table or the floor. Like most…

"It's almost impossible to believe he exists. It's as if you took everything that was bad about America, scraped it off the floor, put it in an old hot dog skin & taught it to make noises with its mouth" #PRESIDEMENTIA

Day 51: Open Studio Days Open studio days are a lot of work, but I love them. My next open studio is for the Golden Plains Arts Trail on 12th and 13th April 2025. Put it in your calendar now! More information to come.

Worst. Episode. EVER.

Day 50: A Sense of Style I’m still developing the language to describe what I create, but among the words are: expressionist, contemporary, abstract, and stark. There’s nothing cosy in my work. Nothing cute. Occasionally they’re quite confronting. I think they require thought, not just an…

Reminder: Zelenskyy refused to leave Kyiv as bombs fell. Donold hid in a bunker from protesters with cardboard signs.

Welcome melancholy as a fleeting shadow, dancing through your soul like autumn leaves - but never give it the keys to make your heart its permanent dwelling. Gurdeep.org

During times of crisis (perceived or real) people vote further to the right. This is why the Coalition and their propagandist media are shoving doom & gloom, horror & fear in our faces all the time. They can't get elected on their policies so they're just going to scare up our votes. #auspol

Day 49: WIP with Acrylic Paint Skins Acrylic paint skins are dried patches of paint which can be used to construct an image. Akin to collage, each skin can be placed on a surface to construct a new image. My work in progress is not purely constructed of paint skins, but I have used them to add…

God Smite The King.

Good to see Trump’s claims about Zelenskyy being described in news reporting as “false”. We have a duty as journalists to make this clear when claims being made by politicians are demonstrably and undeniably untrue. Particularly when politicians are “flooding the zone” with incorrect content.

Great news! Some these ones from London next maybe?

Day 48: Limited Colour Palette One of my first photography collections was “Tonal Landscapes”. This was a series of photographs with limited colour palettes. In my paintings, I love using colour. So a limited colour palette painting was something new for me. I used water based inks on watercolour…

Day 47: Intuition, Knowledge and Emotion For me, painting is a combination of intuition, knowledge and emotion. None of this is conscious when I pick up my paints and brushes. The ideas are not conscious, and I have no idea what will emerge on the canvas. When I step back, I recognise something in…

Tennant carousing chaotically through a room full of stars, belting out a drunk karaoke version of I Would Walk 500 Miles is delightfully un-BAFTA

The thought of Dutton as a PM is absolutely terrifying. If you’re an LNP voter - why? Are you aware of the corruption, pork barrelling, dog whistling, flat out lies? Deceit? No one knew. Ha!#women and all of us deserve a better go. #LNPNeverAgain #auspol

Day 46: A Poem for Radiotherapy Today I started my fourth round of radiotherapy treatments. So I am sharing a poem for radiotherapy. My first round of radiotherapy treatments was in 2013. This poem, 'Breathe' was written in 2014 as I was healing. The beauty of nature is healing. Breathing in clean…

Reminder of how FUCKING BAD & CRUEL & CORRUPT the #LNP are:

Morning. ☕️

Day 45: 5 Books which Expanded My Writing My creative writing genres include poetry, creative non-fiction and personal essay. Here are 5 books which expanded my writing. They show all non-fiction is not the same.

Day 44: Digital Mixed Media I’m not sure if ‘Digital Mixed Media’ is a term in common use. However, it is a description I use for some work I complete in a digital environment, which originate from a mix of my own photography and hand painted work.

Word of the Day is ‘quockerwodger’ (19th century): a puppet individual whose strings are pulled entirely by someone else.

Day 43: Simple Monoprint As a small, simple monoprint, it's possible to frame it or put it into an album of your work. I scanned mine and put it up on Redbubble. If the scan is a good resolution and the colours are accurately captured, the print is surprisingly versatile.

Good coffee & morning☕️ Grateful for some cooler & calmer weather here in Victoria for a few days, thinking of those in WA’s north with cyclone Zelia approaching, others in Australia with fires & floods. Sending safety & love to all💜

Such a fabulous read. Totally engrossing. When you have devoured this one get the other two - Ancestors and Buried. 🙏🙏❤️💙

Reminder: Fucking #LNP are full of these types The 2 C words I hate the most

Day 42: Australian Native Floral Fabric Designs Since we moved into our current home, which has native bushland surrounding it, native flowers have captivated me. Over the years I have created a number of Australian native floral fabric designs. These are all for sale on Spoonflower.

Could be a wild day today. 23° at 0600hrs. Total Fire Ban. On edge.

Day 41: Still Life Morning Light’ is a photograph I took in 2013. It’s one of the few examples of still life in my work. It was taken just after dawn when the first rays of sunlight filtered through the window

I still don't understand how this isn't huge news. This is absolutely iconic Tasmanian alpine vegetation — around Cradle Mountain ffs — about to be burnt and killed, TONIGHT.

If you're one of the 900,000 young people voting for the first time this election, know that several Coalition figures are attending the conference of a bigoted anti-LGBT campaigner. Don't vote for hate.
