I feel very fortunate to have had her come into the shop a few times, a gentle soul and always a pleasure to talk to. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá h-anam uasal.

'There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in'. Ominous winter sky viewed from Inch beach, West Kerry, Ireland.

Sending love and thanks on #IrelandReadsDay to all the brilliant #booksellers (and #librarians) whose lives inspired my recent #Finfarran novel #TheBooksellersGift, and whose energy, hard work and charm are bringing it to readers. xx 💞 #Spéirgorm #booksky #Irish #writing @gaiabanks.bsky.social

Library. By Alvy Carragher. This hits me where a poem should:)

Coming from @lilliputpress.bsky.social is the incredible story of Robert Hilliard - Swift Blaze of Fire. Hilliard was many things in his life - & a Brigadista who died fighting fascism in Jarama during the Spanish Civil War. I'm looking forward to this one. #nopasaran thebookshop.ie/lin-rose-cla...

What's wrong babe, you've hardly opened your copy of Lenin's Materialism and Empirio-Criticism ...

Exciting post today. Three months to go… linktr.ee/gavreilly to preorder!

I know folks are in denial about it, but covers sell books, and folks telling you covers don’t matter don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.

Pan and Fontana paperbacks. Mysteriously, Gay Lord Robert was renamed in later editions ad plain old Lord Robert.

The subject of a forthcoming two part BBC documentary 'Those Who Want Me Dead' on 3-4 March - based on Brendan Hughes and journalist Douglas Dalby's book Up Like a Bird - a frank and honest autiobiography from the former IRA member. thebookshop.ie/brendan-hugh...

I’m SO delighted to have signed a contract today with my lovely #NewIslandBooks colleagues Mariel & Des, to publish the Irish editions of #CityGirl #CityWoman & #CityLives. I’ve worked on #OpenDoor with New Island for many years -Edwin Higel is a superb publisher, and I’m VERY excited and happy.

A fave love poem by Mícheál McCann x 💌

I know Valentine's is not everyone's thing. Good if it is, no problem if it's not. We'd recommend a book either way.

- Pick one social media thing and put your energy there - Nearly every issue with a book can be fixed in editing, except not writing it - Saying yes to a lot of things at the start of your career can be great, but it is also an instinct you will have to learn to control

I had never heard of Gino Sarfatti until I saw this book ( he was a renowned midcentury Italian designer - especially of lighting ) but these are spectacular. Always strikes me how much the best of 20th century industrial design is particularly ageless.

Great review and article in the @irishexaminer.bsky.social on Friday on Irish Nurses in the NHS - www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle/ar... - just published by Irish Academic Press. Copies available now at thebookshop.ie/louise-ryan-...

We would love to create a starter pack of bookstores in Europe people can visit on their travels. Please recommend your favourites and we will get it going.

If that thing happens where you try to turn on a modern TV and it appears not to respond, so you press the power button again but it started to come on before you did so then it turns off again *deep breath* then you should get to take the next day off work

Coming this May , the fifth book from the very talented @leonaforde1.bsky.social - Milly McCarthy's Wild Atlantic Antics . This series has been hugely successful, proving that Irish published series can stand with the best of international 'middle grade' fiction. thebookshop.ie/leona-forde-...

Great news for @bullaunpress.bsky.social !
