the only thing i'm looking forward to more than andor season 2 is a more civilized age coverage of andor season 2

me taking a zyrtec when the allergies hit

what do you think preservation is

Another screenshot that I loved, but had no reason to include in the post is this shot of this briefcase full of stacks and stacks of crisp b̶e̶n̶j̶a̶m̶i̶n̶s̶ washingtons

I'm trying to tighten up my pace for Backtracking, my blogging project where I'm playing through a video game for each year since I was born. My selection for 2001 was Max Payne, a game known for its refinement of "bullet time" mechanics. Here's what I thought: thoughtsabout.games/blog/posts/b...

In a week from today I launch my first Kickstarter for Pale Dot, my Outer Wilds inspired cosmonaut TTRPG! I'm making a physical booklet and publishing it with @plusoneexp.bsky.social. Please give it a follow! Be freaky little guys and let the cosmos change you! www.kickstarter.com/projects/pal...

Wrapped a mystery arc in Apocalypse Keys #TTRPG... it involved a bunch of silly 4th-wall breaks, but the players then pulled a reversal on me when they Unlocked Doom's Door by deciding that the Harbinger was in fact me, paul, the IRL GM, so I had no choice but to appear as an author insert character

y'all ever see a take so bad you are forced to immediately go to sleep?

Sorry but Kamala, Biden, the Democratic Establishment, their strategiests, the inability to learn for decades, the comfort with bigotry, the facilitating genocide, the lack of will... *That* cost the Democrats the election & landed us here long before then. Not Palestinians and their supporters.

as someone who hasn't engaged with a lot of physical video media in a long time, I'm kind of astonished to learn that they can put *unskippable ads* at the beginning of Blu-ray disks? the fuck is that shit?

Rascal is celebrating its first birthday with a pledge drive running throughout February! Check out the post for subscription goals, special programming, and one extremely cool surprise:

My blog project about playing a game from every year since I was born has reached the turn of the millennium, and with it I chose a monumental classic. Plenty of ink has been spilled about Shenmue and its influence, and now I can humbly add my thoughts to the mix thoughtsabout.games/blog/posts/b...

frequently considering this (@matthewseiji.com)

one of key functions of immigration raids & crackdowns is not to actually deport all migrants/refugees but to deepen conditions of social precarity & labor deportability. to make migrants more vulnerable to exploitation from bosses & landlords & banks, and to create scapegoats for austerity policies

This is somehow much worse than what I expected

hello rpg folks! if you like stories about tragic time travelers trying to change their fates, you might enjoy the solo journaling game I just published on itch! #ttrpg #indierpg #journalinggame thecastlebuilder.itch.io/alone-in-the...

after some SSL shenanigans, I've managed to update my blog's domain to thoughtsabout.games! crucially, all old links that I've posted here should still work just fine and redirect accordingly now

I playtested this and had a lovely time! Definitely something to check out if you like drama between supers who may or may not be on the same side

Finally, we are talking about Gibson over on SBG. If you haven’t listened to the show yet, now is an incredible time to jump on board.

I recognize the irony of posting this here but I think one of my new years resolutions should be to get in a habit of reaching for my rss reader before reaching for social media whenever I kill time on my phone

okay so this is a little bit past the new year, but I'm sure we can all make time for one more GOTY 2024 list! this time I wrote it all up in one post; it's a bit long, but you KNOW you wanna see what's on the list... pauldoyle.space/blog/posts/2...

happy new year

not to be mean but this is why Gamers™ have very little sway in major outlets GOTY picks

the year is very imminently ending, but before it does I've managed a bit of reflection on my experiences with TTRPGs in 2024. I've gotten much more involved in the space than I've ever been before, and it's been a great time! pauldoyle.space/blog/posts/2...

one very annoying thing about the death of games media and the rise of the youtube/streamer influencer as the primary pillar of game related criticism and so on is that it is weirdly fucking difficult to find a simple explanation of what a popular game is and if it is any good

I was told that Grants Pass allowing cities to make being homeless illegal would solve this. I was under the impression throwing people in jail and “cleaning up” their encampments would fix the problem because homelessness was a lifestyle choice by moral degenerates who just needed “tough medicine”.

don't mind me, just frantically trying to put meaningful bits of time into all the games I missed this year

how great could the circle be really

Ah yes, my favourite cycle of - Have a good thing helping everyone in the industry - Buy it - Destroy it for no fucking reason - Pump the remaining husk full of shit Continues to be the way anything relating to GameDev operates, you love to see it!

oh good morning to you too grandma

approaching what would normally be an end-of-the-year blogging spree but, remarkably, I've actually made semi-regular posts throughout the year... the real question is if that means I tone it down, or let the scope expand >_>
