it’s so funny to be like “we don’t need diverse spies”

Horrible news.

Their only policy that might actually reduce immigration.

Goodbye world. 👋

20 years changes a state

Reading a book and drinking whiskey instead of watching the Super Bowl.

The part of George Orwell’s 1984 that everyone forgets is how the music and publishing industries have been replaced by a machine that spits out songs and bad novels “without any human intervention.” The goal is to keep you from ever having to think.

YES.

Incredible sentence here.

I can't get over how weak so many capitalists are when the backbone to a lot of their profits -- federal investment and safety nets -- are being gutted. Probably aligns with the death of long term value plays as everything descends into rents and looking for exit liquidity.

In a disgraceful act betraying millions of their own residents, Iowa, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming all write to oppose birthright citizenship.

Respect to Beyer for actually going down and causing a scene. I also see he was a No on Laken Riley. Good model for Democrats to show they know what they’re doing again.

you know what I wish we had? the kind of democracy that came with votes of no confidence in the prime minister. when we have a democracy again, we should maybe consider what kind we would like.

[playing victoria 3 on twitch] well first off I'll raise tariffs to 25% to make my capitalists start building factories, then I'll start spending influence to bring panama back into the u.s. sphere of influence, and once I win the civil war I should have enough of an army leftover to annex canada,

The Republicans and Democrats in Congress who voted for the Laken Riley Act, and endorsed its notions of detention and deportation without the rudiments of due process, facilitated today’s announcement of Trump concentration camps. They’d be wise not to go a single step further down that road.

"Those responsible for the sacking, have been sacked"

"What happened last night is the most direct assault on the authority of Congress, I believe, in the history of the United States. It is blatantly unconstitutional," Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) says of Trump's OMB halting all federal grants. "If this stands, then Congress may as well adjourn."

My lawyer hot take is that the lawyers defending the birthright citizenship EO should be driven from the practice. They shouldn't know a day's rest and should never get to practice law again.

Watched this series through Trump 1, and while I agree it’s apt and amazing, I’d suggest pacing yourself.

That was the first holding call against an Ohio State opponent since September.

History has consistently demonstrated that direct support for authoritarianism is relatively narrow. It thrives through surrender and acquiescence by elite institutions.

Of course my firm’s Internet goes down this afternoon. 🤔

Our institutions failed, our leaders failed, our laws failed, but ultimately there's no denying it: the American people failed, and those who voted for this are every bit as culpable as the man himself, now and forever. It's OK to be disgusted and horrified by them. We should be, and tell them so.

MLK day.

Add robots and this is Westworld.

This never has worked - not once. Once you concede the the far right's framing on immigration, you're dead, because you can never serve up as remedies as vile or extreme as they can, but you're also saying they have the right idea. And no one will vote for that dead dog in the middle of the road.
