A guy who used to be a comedian & is good at improv and dealing with hecklers and who has also spent the last 3 years in a war zone turns out to be a guy you can’t out-alpha, imagine that

The casting director for ENEMY OF THE STATE went out to the audition waiting room and said “YOU’RE ALL HIRED!”

Me and my friends arriving the party.

Just as much as a trial run for "Persona" Bergman's "The Silence" (1963) conjures up dreamlike states and hazy logic in the vein of Harvey's "Carnival of Souls", Resnais' "Last Year at Marienbad", or "The Shining" 17 years ahead of time. Like fleeting memories and lucid moments just out of reach.

Yeah I'll watch this for the Timo of it all.

I watched "Hard Times" (1975), Walter Hill's debut feature! A pulpy 1930s take on street fighting tuffs starring Charles Bronson and James Coburn. Not Hill's most memorable, but still breezy and fun.

Nobody played the casual cruelty of self-important men better than Hackman. And now, when we need him most, he’s gone.

RIP Gene Hackman, 1930-2025

RIP, Gene Hackman

How I choose to remember him: Gene Hackman in EUREKA (Nicolas Roeg, 1983)

Oh, man, not Gene Hackman. 2025 can just fuck right off. Okay. Let me tell you a little bit about Gene Hackman...

Otisburg? RIP Gene Hackman #filmsky

Farewell, King. 💔 Truly one of the great screen performers if our, or any, time. What a legacy to leave behind.

Obsessed with how these Melville films are lit and shot!

Word of the Day is ‘ingordigiousness’ (18th century): extreme greed at the expense of principles.

I love going to the cinema folks! Mid day screening packed with old people starving for Bob Dylan and 60s nostalgia. Blown away by that Edward Norton performance as Pete Seeger!

Always in the mood to check out a new Steven Soderbergh movie. Luckily he has another one coming out in a few months (his tenth since announcing his retirement back in 2012?).

Some of my comfort movies!

The Old Dark House (1932) Director: James Whale

it’s wild how clear it is that most people don’t want this slop by how companies feel the need to bury the way to turn it off completely

Brilliant. Have a watch if you need cheering up.

It feels to me like we're living through all of Mike Judge's movies and TV shows simultaneously.

Damn! Hell of a coincidence. RIP! variety.com/2025/film/ne...

Eureka’s Masters of Cinema imprint are really on a roll to start 2025 with some sets that I can hardly wait to get my hands on. @orbitdvd.bsky.social & @diabolikdvd.bsky.social are our friends. @annodracula.bsky.social @barryf48.bsky.social #physicalmediaforever @davidkalat.bsky.social

Feeling blue! Sunday morning double feature. #NeoNoirFebruary

Cabin life! Taking a slight break from watching movies to read the 1926 classic "Lolly Willowes" by Sylvia Townsend Warner.
