This took me a while to figure out how to do but I added a subtle ripple effect to the water when moving through it. #gamedev #unrealengine

Fourth though seventh motto: No orcs or goblins, elves or dwarves. No fireballs or lightning bolts. No gods or heroes. There's no main quest.

Third motto: There are no explicit "modes of interaction". No quest system, no building houses, no scavenger hunts or liberating towns etc. You simply are in the world. It's up to you to make sense of it, not me.

Second motto: No thing is more important than other things. Everything in the game are ontologically equivalent. No item tiers, no immortal story characters, no level requirements on items etc.

One of the mottos for the game: If you can pick up one item, you can pick up all items If you can open one door, you can open all doors If you can enter one building, you can enter all buildings If you can talk to one person, you can talk to all people If you can wear one shirt, you can...

There are certain things in computer graphics that seems so obvious nowadays but when you look into how it actually works you ask yourself how in the world anyone came to think about it. For me, normal mapping is one those things.

Working on NPC behaviour. When crimes are comitted they will call out and people that hear or witness the crime will react to it depending on their AI-package. Placeholder voices from Morrowind. #gamedev #unrealengine

Had this thing showing up in the water and I had no idea what it was.. Two days later I realized it's the cell boundary graphic (that doesn't show up in-game) that's being probed by the reflection capture.

Modeling clothing for the NPC characters and I forgot what a pain in the a** skinning is.

Scripts can now be attached to world objects. For items it's on-pickup. For NPCs I will have different ones on-spawn, on-death, etc. Containers will have on-open/closed. These scripts will be able to communicate with more complicated event systems for bespoke functionality. #gamedev #unrealengine

If someone told me in 2015, that the entire tech sphere would pivot towards nuclear powered AI shitpost generation in ten years. I would have believed them. You can trust tech bros to do the most unfathomably stupid thing ever. Nothing surprises me anymore.
