In progress: The Europeans in Saksen-Anhalt. At the foot of the enormous 19th-century Kyffhäuser Monument, we meet with the shooting club in Kelbra, part of the notorious Kyffhäuserbund. This is an organization with 34,000 members nationwide, originally intended for German veterans.

Rana, who fled from Syria to Europe in 2014, shows a photo on her phone where she is with her sisters, dressed in traditional Palestinian clothing. All three of them now live in the Netherlands.
