We are in a war on knowledge, a war on facts, and a war on truth. The atrocious sacking of the 11th Archivist of the United States, Colleen Shogan (which she announced on her LinkedIn account last night) heralds a new era of burning of the books. www.linkedin.com/posts/activi...

Welcome to the National Library of Scotland's Bluesky account! We're chuffed to be joining you all here 🦋 Lets run through some introductions!

How serendipitous that @universalstc.bsky.social followed us on the day our conservation #volunteers were given a new project - to clean 18th century booksellers' catalogues from the Savernake (Ailesbury family) collection. #ExploreYourArchive #books #libraries

It's Monday night and it's 5pm so it is absolutely the time we've all been waiting for (since this time last week) when we find out 'How light is it in #Orkney at 5pm this week?' It's already EPISODE FOUR and it is already, unbelievably, undeniably THIS LIGHT. 💡

Yes, libraries are much more than books, #LibrariesChangeLives. They are free and open spaces for learning, and support everything from enterprise to healthcare. In winter they are #WarmSpaces. (to name just a few things our libraries are!) www.theguardian.com/books/2025/j...

Looking forward to more Conservation exchanges during 2025 📚 @thenmct.bsky.social @bodleianlibraries.bsky.social @theul.bsky.social

An early Christmas present for Salisbury Cathedral! @thefnl.bsky.social has donated the 13th-century Sarum Master Bible to the Cathedral following a successful campaign to raise £90,000 which was supported by many generous donors including 160+ members of the public. Happy Christmas!

@thefnl.bsky.social was one of many funders that ensured @britishlibrary was able to purchase an extensive series of letters by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The collection of 131 letters (1846-60) are a major source for the study of her later life. www.bl.uk/press/britis...

Delighted that @thefnl.bsky.social was able award a grant towards this major acquisition. The St Andrews Chronicle comprises two separate manuscripts on paper, dating respectively to c. 1511 and c. 1526, bound together in a rare early Scottish binding.

We're excited to be starting a BIG new digitisation project with the Scottish Castles Association to increase access to their unique collections documenting Scotland's castles & fortified houses #StirScanStudio

You are most welcome! Great to be able to help @theul.bsky.social to add to its wonderful Japanese collections.

Come work with us! Excited to advertise a two-year Munby Fellowship for a Research Associate in Bibliography and Natural History Humanities, a collaboration between @theul.bsky.social and the Collections-Connections-Communities Strategic Research Initiative: jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/49338/ Closing: 17 Jan

The Whipple Museum are recruiting for a Collections Assistant - offered for 5 years, fixed term due to funding. Wonderful collections and a brilliant team, this is a really excellent role for someone! #museumjobs 📜 #histsci www.jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/49320/

I don’t know what this is but it’s cool. Swanmarks anybody?

In 1995 @thefnl.bsky.social gave a grant to Norfolk Record Office to help them buy the county's earliest known swan roll, c1500. Swans in Norfolk are clearly very fine, if a bit grumpy. (Don't forget that you can apply to FNL for a grant at any time - see www.fnl.org.uk).

The University of Glasgow Library, where I have spent many a happy day doing research, has just opened applications for their research fellowships! This is literally my favorite library collection in the world ❤️ Go apply! #fellowship #bookhistory www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/li...

⚠️ Pontypridd has been hit by devastating floods and our wonderful independent bookshop, Storyville Books, has seen much of its stock destroyed. If you’re able to buy a book from them, this would go such a long way to help support them rebuild in the aftermath. 👉 uk.bookshop.org/shop/Storyvi...

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Archiving is all about decision-making! Using professional standards, archivists decide how to order collections, how to describe them, and how best to store them #EYADecisions

It seems fitting to begin our Bluesky saga with one of the most impressive documents in our collection: the Boarstall Cartulary! This 1444 book contains a massive amount of information on Boarstall, like deeds, privileges, and also this delightful map!
