I never really understood why people that claim to be "neutral" get so pressed when you ask about their thoughts on the topic. Like dawg, if I ask you if Nazis are bad, and you shrug, I'm going to fucking think you're a Nazi dude

Remember: 🪐 NASA is a climate agency. 🐟 NOAA is a climate agency.

Every former Biden official I’ve spoken to told me that gutting NOAA will help dismantle America’s offshore wind sector.

We fact check @biographic.bsky.social, non-profit environmental #journalism at its finest. For a long form article I wrote about invasive pink salmon in Norway, I had 110 footnotes. All checked by an independent fact checker. Sign up for our newsletter! 🦑🧪 #conservation

More gutting of our science institutions.

This is a good explainer, and the reason to understand it is because calling your Senators is much more effective if you have an "ask" that they can actually do.

Blaming Ukraine for being brutally invaded by Russia. Putin is really getting his money’s worth.

Fellow Mammalogists. As many of you are aware, science is in a state of turmoil in the United States. Recent efforts to drastically reduce government workforces and research funding for science will lead to many adverse consequences for Earth’s remaining natural ecosystems.

a government full of sexual abusers taking the position that you can't say no

petition to make the date references on bluesky actual dates instead of '2 months, 3 months, etc.' so that I can figure out where my dude was on certain dates without hovering over every timestamp — please @bsky.app my family is dying

"Musk keeps using these guys because they’re willing to do things these other more experienced people are not." that is, crimes talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/is-th...

I got an email this morning from a couple named Eric and Joanna Reuter who found a snake in their basement. They used one of my comics to help determine that it was a North American Racer and not a more common ratsnake. The photos are so, so cute

repeating myself a bit here but trump can issue an executive order but that doesn’t necessarily mean shit if it doesn’t have a firm statutory basis. if congress lays out in law what the duties of a particular official are, then no, the president can’t decide those duties are something else

I'm not a Catholic but passive-aggressive snarking about the pope's ill health and possible death because he recently called you out feels like not doing Catholicism right.

Everything is splitting at the seams. You'd think it'd be harder to dismantle the government, but it's like he unscrewed the right bolt and the whole damn thing fell apart

Over 650 political scientists who have dedicated our lives to the study of democracy & government, have signed this letter enumerating our deep concerns about this administration’s actions that undermine the Constitution and the rule of law. Please share. urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=htt...

Fuck yeah 🤟

This is HUGE. The administration is trying to dismantle the board so that government employees have nowhere to file termination grievances.

Privacy advocates have long resisted attempts by governments and corporations to collect and store citizens' personal data. This is the reason. To prevent authoritarian, unaccountable, secret police from knowing everything about our lives and using our data against us.

This is a move corpos pull all the damn time, they set up a bunch of their lawyers up to defend the company as a whole, listing them as "John Doe", and because the court doesnt actually know who they're charging the cases can last years, if they don't just get dismissed right off the bat.

Being unable to answer this question is absolutely insane and completely without any precedent in American history. DOJ's official position is that the chain of command flowing from POTUS to DOGE not only doesn't pass through Musk, but they *don't know* who is in charge of it.

The Trump DoJ lawyers pushing this stuff can’t be humiliated enough for my taste. So many people should spit at their feet that they need galoshes.

Planes are crashing because Trump and Musk wanted to cut their own taxes even more. Say it over and over and over again until it sinks into people's brains and they correctly associate every crash with two billionaires who never fly commercial.

Write about how the whole "Elon isn't running DOGE" nonsense is also one of the trump admin's loyalty tests, to see which useful idiots will repeat their obviously bogus framing and deny the reality everyone knows. www.techdirt.com/2025/02/18/t...

Ah yes, the party of free speech

I suspect this is bloviation by Trump & Co. on what the order actually does. Without having seen it yet I suspect it deals with administrative agencies and their ability to interpret what they think laws mean and is not (yet) a flat rejection of court power to interpret law.

if you were accidentally fired while transporting a nuclear warhead and currently need a place to stay with said warhead please know that i have a sizable backyard and an abiding desire to be a nuclear power

Trumpists will continue to be furious at any dissent no matter how much power they steal. That’s because the administration is premised on pathological insecurity. They’re shitty people, they know it, and they will never stop resenting being seen as shitty people.

The thing about super rich people is that they famously don’t care about money, excellent point

We found the culprit everyone

Trump on Hannity just now: "I always respected [Musk]" Trump in 2022:

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are messing with your Medicare benefits. Democrats passed a law to finally let Medicare negotiate with Big Pharma for lower prices. Now Trump and Musk laid off the negotiators. That means higher drug costs for you. Nothing efficient about that.

Please tell people. Please share. Folks don’t know, even those who would care to know.

Journalists should report the truth the way this judge laid it out.

[through teeth gritted so hard you can hear them snapping from three floors away] oops, welcome to the resistance

JD Vance is so nauseatingly unlikeable that he’s literally dragging down the AfD’s approval rating

@joshjohnsoncomedy.bsky.social doing the list of things Mark Zuckerberg looked like while announcing hate speech is allowed on Facebook... so good. www.youtube.com/shorts/PXM4D...

The thing with DEI, like with most culture war nonsense, is that it's not hard to find a few people or programs that are silly/poorly thought out/performative. But using that to attack the underlying concept is like saying "eating at restaurants is dangerous" because you once got food poisoning.

project 2025 is probably the media's single largest failure I think. there's a lot of grey areas and you can't please everyone, but it is factually true that they are doing large parts of it, people said they were going to do this, they lied about not doing it, and that could have been reported.

Elon Musk's anti-remote work crusade is so funny to me this is the guy with the vision for the future? he wants to go to Mars, why? so you can sit in an office cubicle from 9 to 5 but you're doing it on the Red Planet? lol
