Reading a music blog is your fight against the world of AI and algorithm music.

Stopped in at Wuxtry Records in Athens, GA this morning and picked up a couple of great originals for cheaper than you can buy one reissue. The owner was also kind enough to let me drop off some cards for the website. #jazzsky #vinylsky

Greetings from Hamlet, North Carolina. Birthplace of John Coltrane. #musicsky #jazzsky

Bitches Brew seems like the obvious jazz answer. Is there a better option?

After a year layoff, I've started picking up jazz and blues records again. One of my recent finds is this Albert Ayler record on ESP called Spirits Rejoice from 1965. Love the black and white photography. #jazzsky #musicsky #internationaljazzday

Just finished this excellent biography of Albert Ayler by Richard Koloda. Highly recommended if you’re a music lover.

Tonight's Jazz Tome entry is Jimmy Woods Sextet - Conflict (1963). I like the liner notes here because they give a first hand account of Woods' state of mine while writing the music. Mentions of race, war, and a search for peace through music. #jazzsky #musicsky thejazztome.info/jimmy-woods-...

Some '50s jazz counterprogramming from me, for you on this stoned Easter Sunday. motherslug.substack.com/p/031-seven-...

Wanted to get some work done on a Jimmy Woods album tonight, but instead fell down a blues rabbit hole. Namely, I have a promo copy of John Lee Hooker's Live at Sugar Hill (1963) on the way and found a press clipping of the show from the San Francisco Examiner, 10/31/1962. youtu.be/8QMvcAvI9sw?...

Sent an email to the director of jazz studies at a university that appears to be using my website in their curriculum. I'm actually going to be in their town next month, so I asked to meet someone from the faculty. Might as well shoot your shot, right? Even if I don't get a response I'm still happy.

RIP Francis Davis, a titan among jazz critics (that's meant to be a compliment). www.npr.org/2025/04/16/g...

I finally have little postcards to hand out at record stores and mail to radio stations. Physical proof that my website exists is super cool and I'm pumped about it. #jazzsky #musicsky
