Democracy dies in dorkness

There are dark times ahead, friends. Heinous deeds surround us, inescapable and omnipresent. Remember to recharge yourself, so that anger turns to energy, not to apathy. And don’t deny yourself joy, even if it feels wrong in greater context. As such, here are 15 blissful seconds of kitten. Be well.

The West Bank is completely under attack and there’s been very little coverage in American media

For at least the last five years I just ask, “How is your day going?” It’s smaller scale, doesn’t require people to reckon the larger existential and ongoing problems as much. And most people are just surviving one day at a time.

Minneapolis friends, this is tonight! I’ll be there — wanna join me? Let’s grow more things more places! 🌱🌷☘️🌾

UPDATE: Three newborns have died from hypothermia, and three others are in critical condition, due to Israel’s refusal to allow incubators and sufficient fuel into Gaza’s hospitals, as required under the ceasefire agreement.

Salutary reminder of how we got here:

We’re like a half-step away from having an app on your phone where you can order a hit on anyone, on demand. Very cool, very normal.

This is the kind of news that gets me through these days 😎

Scoop: The databases powering DOGE.gov are insecure, and people outside the government have already pushed their own updates to the site to prove it: www.404media.co/anyone-can-p...

It’s only a matter of time…

Pssh… who needs “PrOtEcTiOnS” or “ReGuLaTiOnS” or “RiGhTs” anyway! www.wired.com/story/dozens...

Microsoft Research: GenAI can inhibit critical engagement with work and can potentially lead to long-term overreliance on the tool and diminished skill for independent problem-solving. Microsoft: *sells GenAI aggressively into the Education 365 packages*

For a lot of white people, the COVID lockdowns are the first time in their lives they've ever experienced meaningful restrictions, particularly meaningful government restrictions. So it's really not surprising, in retrospect, that their reaction was to overthrow the government and destroy science.

it's not hyperbolic to say we're witnessing a coup.

Important discussion that talks about the core contradictions of RFK Jr.’s beliefs — how he pines for a “healthier” America, while wanting to dismantle everything that keeps us healthy today.

In today’s episode, we discuss RFK’s nomination to lead HHS and how the “MAHA” movement embraces the exploitation of health under capitalism while abandoning the sick soundcloud.com/deathpanel/r...

This is why I struggle to have hope for a true representative democracy in America — our country doesn’t even know itself. People think 21% of American adults are trans?! 27% Muslim?! 30% OF US LIVE IN NYC?! A completely unserious people worrying about all the wrong things.

you know shit’s crazy when a catholic group can condemn a nazi salute but the ADL can’t
