In a better world, the lawsuits alleging workplace discrimination against 1000s of Black employees should have been enough to end Elon Musk, but welp here we are, mistaking money for genius.

It's good to take time off when the existential dread sets in. As our ancestor Dr. Angelou once said, "We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated." We will not lose.

People in my circle never let the "First They Came" poem get beyond the first line because we know well: when they come for "them" first, they'll come for us next.

I think too many people underestimate the value and skill of elementary school teachers. Getting students the foundational learning blocks they need to get the rest of their education is not a small task. Plus, teaching multiple content areas and keeping them engaged over hours deserves more pay.

A reason I got into education policy/blogging was the real gap in how teachers and media saw things play out during the No Child Left Behind era. Some of the questions we'd get from journalists were downright ahistorical but also aligned to how Bloomberg and co. thought about our work. Observe:
