If I had a band or a label, I would do a punk cover of "No More Kings" from Schoolhouse Rock. And then I would gather a bunch of people to write a whole album of next-generation Schoolhouse Rock songs, with songs about Social Security and Medicaid and NOAA. I am not kidding in the least.

Steven Spielberg has spent his entire career warning us about the dangers of dinosaurs and Nazis and I personally think we should have brought back the dinosaurs instead

“The Trump years have made so many right-wing people worse. [It] has been a long, slow, corrosive education in vice: from giving themselves permission to rationalize away Trump’s cruelty, to realizing—almost to their own surprise—how much they liked the taste.” www.thebulwark.com/p/the-cruelt...

REPOST if you support our federal workforce and know how dedicated they are to their jobs. Show them you appreciate them!

Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons: -We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S. -The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous. 🧵⬇️

"Gulf of America" is just a loyalty test. It's a way of checking who is going to abrogate reality for no reason other than a cowardly refusal to stand up to the bully or an opportunistic willingness to toady up to one. Anyone who will call it that will help you round people up or look the other way.

So wonderful to realize that in the history books of the future WE (Americans) are gonna be the bad guys!

At this point, I'm ready for this administration to tell me I have to teach my U.S. History students that "DEI" was to blame for slavery.

I wouldn't mind being poached. I'm a teacher of U.S. History but I can learn Canadian history real fast!

I made a thing.

Given the toxic swirl of narcissism, nihilism, and moral apathy that has enveloped the country, I’ve never been more pessimistic about its future. And it’s not even about FFOTUS. He could choke on a cheeseburger tomorrow—a fate no cheeseburger would deserve—and I’d feel the same way.

What we have instead of an opposition party is a copy of Robert's Rules of Order that has learned how to do GoFundMes and insider trading

one of key functions of immigration raids & crackdowns is not to actually deport all migrants/refugees but to deepen conditions of social precarity & labor deportability. to make migrants more vulnerable to exploitation from bosses & landlords & banks, and to create scapegoats for austerity policies
