The reason for the thick and unrelenting fog in Silent Hill is that it masked the very short draw distance on the hardware of the time. Supposedly, the remake of Silent Hill 2 renders the whole scene anyway and then covers it up with a thick fog because optimisation is a four-letter word nowadays.

Okay so I just tried Gotham Knights, which is generally considered a mediocre game. Some thoughts: 1) Starting with that line, knowing that Batman's usual VA died less than three weeks after release, is very awkward. 2) The motorcycle is incredibly fucking slow holy shit.

My computer wouldn't boot just then. Beeped as usual so no problem with the POST... and then nothin'. The RGB on the AIO went solid red too just to add to the experience. Reset button didn't work either though I may just not have plugged that in I don't remember.

@arts-by-nacho.bsky.social Here's fun, Blender has a VR mode that I decided to try out. You can just fly around the scene in VR and... look at stuff. Only because I've not really done any 3D since I last formatted the only scene I had to hand was something more down YOUR alley.

Just tried out the mic built into the VR headset because this thing has a surprisingly solid feature set for a budget model... it filters out the speakers pretty much perfectly, love to see it.

I realise that to some people the pastry is obvious and not in need of being explained. I am not one of those people because "pie" isn't actually a thing here so I had to learn it from scratch and the fact that this recipe for the filling takes it so very for granted will never cease to amuse me.

I was today years old when I found out spas are named after the Belgian town of Spa, also the namesake of the Spa-Francorchamps race track (Francorchamps being another village that the track is, frankly, rather closer to). Did not know that. Seems reasonable.

I like how VR versions of Bethesda games are sold separately for a lot more money. Why yes, I would like to pay sixty bucks for a *counts* fifth copy of Skyrim! No better way to ensure I'll never experience that game in Vee Arr. Very nice.

There are seven days to a week. Of those seven, two are named after celestial bodies - the Sun and the Moon. One is named after the Roman god Saturn. The remaining four are named after the Norse deities Tyr, Odin, Thor, and Frigg.

I tried some room clearing in H3VR. It gave me a shitty .22LR rifle with awkward reload, no bolt hold open feature and small magazine. Then I found a machine pistol that on closer inspection had no trigger and fired by pulling on a rip cord like it's a fucking 9x19mm Beyblade. So that's useless.

The new WiFi 6E router came in. So I went and set it up... and nothin'. Look closer at the manual and it says that it won't work until the contract start date, which is next Wednesday.

Judging a book by its cover is largely valid because the cover is what they use to try and sell the book to you. If it's a shite cover I'm not picking it up, get a better artist or at least get better at Google Image Search.
