3) We lost more than bookstores, we lost meeting places, bars, clubs, archives & hot-spots of lesbian culture. Our art/music, performances, shows, plays, spaces where we shared stories. Where we made friends, met our life partners or even hookups. Where we built relationships. I still remember. #End

2) The push for inclusivity erased lesbian spaces. Women-only spaces became pressured to be for everyone. But when everything is for everyone, is anything ours? The loss of these bkstores wasn’t abt Amazon. "Lesbian" became a dirty word. And many of us are complicit, actively going along w/ it.

2. And if it’s framed as “Govt coming for your benefits after you paid into the system” it hits harder than just listing numbers & cuts. Ppl grinding every day are carrying more than you can possibly comprehend. GOP is better at reaching audiences bc Dem journalists bury the truth behind paywalls.

3. These cuts don’t just affect the poor, they hit working, middle & professional classes, plus many upper earners who aren’t billionaires. If you really do want ppl to be informed & oppose this, you have to make the info accessible. No paywalls, no gatekeeping-get it in front of them. #StopTheCuts

Awww 😍 Harvey is too cute! Puppies are a lot of work, but he’d probably really like having a sidekick. Big decision.

Probably true for some, they’re force-fed piles of crap all day while real info is buried behind paywalls. They don’t find anything out until it’s too late. Gotta flood them w/ digestible info consistently, it will break thru. But it has to be relentless, can't assume they’ll figure it out w/o help.

3. Many lesbians have been absorbed into allegiance to LGBTQFU, so if we can’t even imagine women-only parties anymore...if we don’t even respect ourselves enough to believe we're worthy of our own spaces, then maybe the only thing left for us to gather for is to dig our own graves. ⚰️⛏️🪦#lesbianspace

2. Until some real bishes make moves to reclaim women-only lesbian spaces legally, this is how to rebuild and keep it alive in the meantime. On our terms.

Totally get that. It’s time for more lesbian women to take up some space!

7. This won't be everyone's reality, your mom may die peacefully in her sleep after gardening all day, but for millions of Americans, long-term care for a loved one, and eventually for themselves, is an unavoidable need, not a luxury. It’s a harsh reality millions face, regardless of finances. #End

6. Another thing, thinking you'll be able to keep your loved one cozy at home bc you've got several million might seem ideal, but for most, this isn't realistic. Eventually, no matter how much money you have, the need for specialized equipment and 24/7 care make a medical facility the only option.

5. Both parties have failed families, but the obsession w/ tax cuts for ultra wealthy make it even harder for the vast majority to access medical services. This is not a small issue, it burdens working, middle & eventually even upper income families while enriching the wealthiest. End of thread.

4. Now Trump is back in office targeting cuts to nursing homes AGAIN. Which is devastating for families who can’t afford long-term 24 hr home care. & while these millions of families struggle, govt's prioritizing tax cuts for ultra wealthy, draining billions from essential services like healthcare.

3. Still, under Biden, healthcare costs remained extraordinarily difficult. Happened in phases up to full on Inflation Reduction Act which ultimately ended w/ $2,000 deductible before meds are covered. Again, forced to urgently scramble endlessly on scavenger hunts for affordable generic meds.

2. When Trump cut funding for Medicaid last time, nursing home services like transportation & aids to dr’s appts, hospital/ER visits ended, so I also had to now drive to the nursing home, pick up mom, drive her to constant appts & back & all day advocate, which took endless hrs of my time, every wk.
