Oh, and an especial "fuck you" to the guy who said the Declaration of Independence was based on the Jesus-y "love your neighbor."
Democracy is not Christianity. Christianity is NOT democracy.

Maybe the problem isn’t neurodivergence, but instead the problem is a society which has placed such a high moral value on sameness. Perhaps instead of shoving the more than 78,000 modern human genes in a tiny box and calling it “normal,” we as a society must admit it cannot and should not even try.

But here we are. And here I am, having to say, along with god knows how many others of us for the umpteenth time:
NEURODIVERGENCE IS NOT A TRAGEDY. IT IS NOT A HEALTH CRISIS. IT IS NOT A PHARMACEUTICAL CONSPIRACY. IT IS NOT CAUSED BY VACCINES. AND IT IS NOT A MORAL DEFECT.

This would explain why from an evolutionary perspective, the Neandertal genetic component linked to autism has not been completely pushed out of the human genome, but retained, as discussed in the article. Perhaps, the reason being, there are many autistic traits which are GOOD for human evolution.

Perhaps I’m wrong, perhaps I am a “rare” autistic person who has kids. Or, stay with me, perhaps autism is not as “rare” as early research would have us believe. Perhaps neurodivergence is more prevalent than neurotypicals *want* us to believe.

But the answer to this question seems rather obvious. If women and girls are the most, if not notoriously, under diagnosed and therefore underrepresented autistic demographic, wouldn’t any “research” be extremely inaccurate in determining the number of autistic ppl who have children?

The excerpt below touches on autistic ppl’s supposed tendency to have “significantly less” children than allistic ppl, and proposes the question of why these genes are still showing up instead of dwindling out faster if so few autistic ppl have children.

But Trump's policies would not materially improve students with disabilities' lives. Students at private schools frequently have fewer rights. And Project 2025 proposed turning IDEA into "no-strings" block grants, removing the enforcement mechanism.

All the evidence shows that self-dx is pretty accurate. There isn’t a widespread issue of people pretending to be autistic just to be shitty, & the idea that there is is part of the problem described in this thread.
People shouldn’t use their autism as an excuse, but that doesn’t make them fakers.

2. SO MANY BOOKS about purity culture fail to address how forcing abstinence on people IS purity culture. They skirt around it, saying that the problem with purity culture was the SHAME, not the stance. Allison addresses the harmful theology head on and skirts around nothing. 3/

I’ve never made it longer than 60 days. And it’s literally because sometimes I just can’t bring myself to open the app because I’m so sick of that bird telling me what to do. It’s like putting something on a todo list, it’s on the list so it becomes dead to me.

Yeah we’ve started doing similar things. It also helps me feel a tiny bit less hopeless. A tiny bit.

I think it’s funny because so many of us have been trying to warn everyone for a long time now. And we were ignored or told we were overreacting. But now they want our “help”? Um, no.
