The Trump administration’s mass layoffs of health workers hit a key vaccine unit of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to people familiar with the matter.

I keep thinking about Trump saying that he needed the kind of generals that Hitler had.

That’s why the AMA has to work against it.

Trump and Trumpism summed up in a single statement.

If this happened in a foreign country we’d call it a purge

one really interesting thing about congestion pricing is that Trump basically said “I am killing congestion pricing right now”, got a friendly puff piece in the New York Post, and then every other media outlet went along with it even though it turned out he actually did not kill congestion pricing

Turns out the Dow doesn’t love it

AW, Marky. Can we give you a binky?

Focus on the positive: this has overall been a very bad week for Trump! * he is falling in the polls - both his favorability and his policies * he lost his first Supreme Court case on firing an watchdog, setting the way for others fired to fight back 1/

Judge Susan Crawford in Wisconsin needs to run a huge ad campaign about Elon Musk trying to buy this judicial election against MAGA McGee. Elon's unfavorables are very high right now, and people are getting tired of billionaires buying elections.

U.S. negotiators pressing Kyiv for access to Ukraine's critical minerals have raised the possibility of cutting the country's access to Elon Musk's vital Starlink satellite internet system, three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Dear @cnn.com, The judge did not “vacate” the trial. He adjourned it. Then he appointed an amicus curiae to argue against dismissing the charges. Who writes your headlines?

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

Firing all of the JAGs (Judge Advocates General)—the top lawyers in each service branch—is just as bad as, if not worse than, firing (most of) the Joint Chiefs.

Fired for being Black.

We've got ourselves an old fashioned Friday news dump. What's happened over the past few hours:

The last failsafe of any republican form of government is that the military is loyal to the constitution and rule of law over a particular leader. Cross that line, and you get Venezuela today and every dictatorship in history.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

President Donald Trump on Friday fired the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force General C.Q. Brown, and announced he would replace five other high level positions in an unprecedented shake-up of U.S. military leadership.

FOLLOWUP: SECDEF Hegseth also firing the CNO, the USAF Vice-Chief, and somewhat unusually and ominously to do in the same breath, the senior JAGs of the Army, Navy, and USAF

Firing all the JAGs is very very bad

🚨 Trump’s DOGE purge just made Veterans’ data a massive target. They fired key cybersecurity staff protecting VA.gov —leaving millions of Veterans’ medical & personal records exposed. This isn’t efficiency. It’s reckless and dangerous.

Trump probably wants people who won’t push back against orders to invade Greenland or do military actions across Mexico. Maybe also orders to use troops against American civilians. I’m not sure how easy any of that would be, but I suspect that’s part of what they want.

President Trump has ousted Joint Chiefs Chairman CQ Brown and says he is replacing him with Air Force Lieutenant General Dan Caine. A retired four-star general expressed serious dismay over this move to me tonight, calling it "sadly political and tragic for our nation."
