Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 46: John Fogerty - Centerfield CCR’s former vocalist gave us this slice of Americana in 1985. Feels appropriate to highlight this as Spring Training ⚾️ commences. The Old Man Down The Road gives us a beautiful guitar 🎸 intro. Other tracks bang too. Batter up!

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 45: Social Distortion An eponymous album from the OC-based lords of punk rock. While successful since the 70s, this offering in the early 90s catapulted them to a more mainstream crowd. They are a sight and sound to behold live. Rumors of a new album abound. 🤘🔥

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 44: Metallica - Metallica You knew their eponymous album would show up here. After the tragic death of Cliff Burton (RIP 😢), they persevered and continued to give us insanely good music. Give their documentary 🎥 “Some Kind of Monster” a look… it’s worth your time. 🤘🔥

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 43: Genesis - Invisible Touch This elite prog rock band enjoyed a legendary career that gave us this one in 1986. Hard to pick one as their catalog is so vast. This distinguishes itself because of the # of big hits, and importantly their best (IMHO) “Domino”. 🤘🔥

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 42: Queen - The Game The Game gave us the huge hit in Another One Bites The Dust (that bass riff, hear it?) & captivated a new generation. Freddie Mercury may be the most dynamic front man ever. RIP Freddie 💔 Musically exquisite Queen is solidly rock royalty. 👑 🤘🔥

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 41: Toad The Wet Sprocket - Dulcinea The oddly named alt-rock band from Santa Barbara delighted us with this offering from 1984. Their big hit, Fall Down, came from Dulcinea, after finding success with the previous album, fear. Super fun live band to see. 🤘🔥

Absolutely brilliant tribute to the show that helped us keep our sense of humor alive for the past half century. 🫡🔥❤️ #snl50 #nostalgia

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 40: U2 - War With their third album, War launched this Irish 🇮🇪 band into the stratosphere. Driven by charismatic Bono & supreme musicianship of The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullin, Jr., they became icons. They played the initial 5 mos of Vegas’ Sphere. 😳🤘🔥

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 39: The Clash - Combat Rock The boys from the UK 🇬🇧 gave us this prescient critique of authoritarian trends in the West. Their scathing lyrics, hard sound yet more radio-friendly format opened a new audience to them. Widely viewed as a top rock album of the 80s. 🤘🔥🫡

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 38: Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet JBJ, Ritchie Sambora and the boys were omnipresent in the 80s and ruled the airways with this one. The top selling album of 1987 yielded hit after hit. Along with The Boss, they are New Jersey proud, loud and a hell of a lot of fun. 🤘

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 37: Guns N’ Roses - Appetite for Destruction The bafflingly enigmatic GnR tantalized us with their heavy sound and their gripping lyrical style. I highlight them today as “Sweet Child O’ Mine” seems like a hard rock V-Day choice. Seems they flamed out way too soon. 🤘

A day I shed tears for losing an icon and great human. His work spoke volumes about our world, our people and the value in each of us. RIP Charles Schulz. Can’t believe it’s been a quarter century without you and the wisdom in each pane you created. 😢🫡💔

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 37: Van Halen - 1984 The boys from Pasadena can rock and rock hard, whether with DLR or Sammy. Eddie VH may be the greatest guitarist 🎸 of our generation. Jump, I’ll Wait & Panama absolutely bang. Then, there’s that NSFW video we ALL remember “Hot for Teacher”. 😳 🎸🔥🤘

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 36: ZZ Top - Eliminator The bearded ones from Houston, TX put out this beauty in ‘83. Crisp sound and those MTV videos. 💥Simply humorous fun music that embraced the carefree nature of the 80s sound. Five decades strong until the sad passing of Dusty Hill. 🤘🔥🫡

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 35: Alice Cooper - Trash As he rocks the First Coast tonight, I offer Trash. A prolific horror glam character, the former and PHX’s own Vincent Furnier never fails to disappoint. This one caps the 80s in style. Bed of Nails and Poison are among his best (IMHO). 🤘🔥

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 34: The Eagles - Hotel California Seems appropriate to honor The Eagles today, given the SB results. This album is an all-timer. Crazy good lyrics and music. With Hotel California, Life in the Fast Lane or the others, this one will live on through the ages. 🤘🔥🦅

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 33: The Bangles - Different Light This talented all-female LA-based band formed in the early 80s. By the mid80s, they became the darlings of pop-rock with the likes of Manic Monday & Walk Like An Egyptian. I was def crushing on Susanna Hoffs in the 80s. You? 🤘🔥❤️

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 32: RUSH - Counterparts The 15th album from #TheHolyTriumvarate 🇨🇦. Marking a return to a hard driving rock sound. It includes edgy tracks like Animate & Cut to the Chase. A #Grammy nod for Leave That Thing Alone. And personal fave, Between Sun and Moon. #RIPNeil

Well #BillsMafia, we may not have our Super Bowl yet. At least our guy #JA17 is, as we all knew, the #NFL #MVP. Love this guy and what he means to the great city and community of Buffalo, NY. Be well. Do good. Take care. And, of course, #GoBills 💙❤️!

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 31: AC/DC - Back in Black No list would be complete without this staple. These Aussies 🇦🇺 set the tone for GenX in the 80s. Powerful guitars and glass-shattering vocals. No party was a party without “You Shook Me All Night Long”. And still going after 50 yrs. 🤘🔥🎸

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 30: Talking Heads - Speaking in Tongues The incomparable David Byrne leads this highly critically acclaimed band. Their quirky look and heady lyrics garnered a loyal following. In the 80s, Burning Down the House became somewhat a call to action anthem for many. 🤘🔥

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 29: Heart - Heart The eponymous album by the Seattle based rockers was about as 80s as it gets, right down to the album cover. While they had been rocking hard throughout the 70s, this one brought many charted singles. They were inducted into the R&RHOF in 2013. 🤘🔥❤️

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 28: simple Minds - Once in a Lifetime These Scots 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, with the vocals of Jim Kerr, gave us the #GenX anthem “lDon’t You Forget About Me. While not included on this album, it is in the deluxe edition now. Other greats include Sanctify Yourself and Alive and Kicking.

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 27: Prince & The Revolution - Purple A musician of extraordinary measure, Prince, gave us a myriad of masterpieces. And, importantly, The Revolution (Wendy, Lisa, Matt, Mark and Bobby) provided the psych-synth backing creating that one of a kind sound. RIP Prince.

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 27: INXS - Kick Led by the charismatic and enigmatic Michael Hutchence, this Aussie 🇦🇺 band was all over the 80s. This album yielded hit after hit, including Mystify & New Sensation. They were something to behold live. Lost Michael way too soon at age 37 (RIP).

Hard to believe we’re not even closer to (if not beyond) midnight yet. ⏰ #DoomsdayClock #TickTock #89seconds

Caleb Love sends to OT with the buzzer beater from waaaaaay downtown & wins it on OT VS #3 ISU - Could watch this on a 24/7 loop. 🏀🔥 Now, go out and destroy the #Sporks in Tempe today. #BearDown #ZonaCats #CalebLove #ISUvsUA

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 26: The B-52s - Cosmic Thing Groovy party band that gave us Rock Lobster 🦞 & Private Idaho, 9 yrs earlier, thunderously splashed with this classic. Fred, Kate, Cindy, Keith and Ricky (RIP 😢) brought the fun. Love Shack & Roam were staples in clubs & house parties. 🤘🔥

February Feels… with thanks and credit to @sixfeetofcandy.bsky.social for so accurately articulating for us all. 🤣

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 25: Nirvana - Nevermind Few bands can literally create an entire genre of music. Yet Kurt Cobain, and Dave Grohl & the boys, did just that. GRUNGE arrived with this. Unforgettable album cover too! Smells Like Teen Spirit is a 10/10. RIP Kurt - Lost way too soon. 😢

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 24: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik LA-based RHCPs are virtuoso musicians in Anthony Kiedis (vocals), Flea (bass), John Frusciante (guitar) and Chad Smith (drums). A must see live. Crazy fun, loud as hell and Flea’s bass is 🤯. Also, 🧦. #IYKYK 🔥🤘🫡

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 23: Missing Persons - Spring Session M This early 80s new wave alt-rock band from LA broke with hits like “Words”, “Destination Unknown” and “Walking in LA”. The Bozzios, Dale (vocal) & Terry (drums) created a distinct sound. Add Warren Cuccurullo’s and you get 🤘🔥.

@10000maniacs.bsky.social Happy to see you out here! Hoping to get the opportunity to see you live again in 2025 down in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. 🤘

Audiophile Albums of Note: Day 23: Cowboy Junkies - Pale Sun, Crescent Moon Today, I’ll ask for some leeway, as this is a special offering. In celebration of 30 yrs with my beautiful wife, I share PS,CM with you. Great album featuring “Anniversary Song”. You have given me the world, my love. ❤️
