Poetry Challenge - Day 4. My Nature Most days I’m calm, open palms, great the sky Some days I scream, thunder, throw, slam, Screech like a banshee and I look like a horror On other days water drips from my eyes A few droplets for joy, puddles for sorrow. #poetry #writingchallenge #naturepoems

I drove down to beautiful seaside Sorrento this morning for the Sorrento Writers' Festival. Really enjoyed My New Book session 1, with Laura McCluskey, Theodore Ell, Raeden Richardson, and Tim Byrne. #sorrentowritersfestival

“Well, syntax is the thing that allows for manipulation in a sentence, in a way that grammar doesn't […] To me this is very erotic. It's like seeing someone across the room and deciding you want him.” Carl Phillips, Paris Review #Syntax

Very excited indeed! My first copy of @islandmag.bsky.social arrived today. A Tasmanian based publication featuring poetry, stories and art by Australian and international creatives. Support independent publications folks! #poetry #creativewriting

Yay! My @austbookreview.bsky.social mag arrived today. Can't wait to read Phillip Deery's review of Shiela Fitzpatrick' book about Baltic DPs. I'm a first gen Australian, as my Baltic parents and grandparents came here as WWII refugees.

This stunning street-art mural, opposite Mordialloc train station, was created by artist Sam Bates, as part of last weekend's local Wall To Wall festival. The detail in this work is simply superb. #streetart

Does anyone else out there live with trigeminal neuralgia? If yes, I'd love to know how you manage it, and how you cope when it's going ballistic. Medication? Meditation? Surgery?

I felt compelled to write this poem as a response to the shocking number of intimate partner homicides that occur in Australia, specifically in relation to First Nations women. It’s a distressing topic - Yes. But we must bring it to light, because it’s not ok, EVER. #poetry

What an exciting day. I checked the mailbox and the latest @mslexia.bsky.social magazine was waiting for me. It has travelled far across the oceans to reach me - and what a timely and wonderful surprise.

I'm very excited to have been featured in Black Coffee Poetry's latest collection, titled Vivid Memory. My poem is titled Justice Poetique blackcoffeepoetry.substack.com/i/159116591/... #poetry

Some days ideas, and words, seem to flow. Other days, like today, nothing seems to stimulate the cogs. I've been for a long walk, read the paper, meditated, but zilch. Here's to a far more productive tomorrow.
