The reason why I disliked doing vox pops so much – the bane of my life as a cub reporter – was that you needed a pic for every person you spoke to

For me, this is The House Sound of 1988/89, The Best Of House and Acid House's Greatest Hits all rolled into one. I can smell the dry ice, see the lilac and hear some DJ or other endlessly teasing "something's wrong" into the mix from here

Always the ones you least expect eh?

Finally saw Memoir of a Snail yesterday. And of course I cried

Fifty years of pulling in just behind the fridge for some reason. Also: the Best of Bowie

More print stuff, this also has me doing the usual tomfoolery via Live2Club as well as interviewing Alan Jones, the FrightFest one, about punk and disco, London, 1976/77 and his forthcoming memoir about punk, disco and disco films store.defected.com/products/fai...

Includes me doing some stuff, reviews, features etc etc. A lovely physical magazine with fine ideals. Long live print

"Oh, Danny" part 193. Fash Bash ra.co/news/82164

One of my old man's closest friends and allies, part of the team of Millwall supporters working for Harold Wilson in the 70s, one of the last links to that era…

Balearigoth special

Bring back the Jam

Not bothered if I never hear this again – easily in the top 10 records I've heard most, ever – but you can't deny, it changed everything

I’d listen to him read the phone book. This was ace

This was once on Simon Bates’ Our Tune and he spent half the story time apologising for what was about to come

Finders Keepers/Andy Votel deserve maximum credit for this. Lovely stuff www.theguardian.com/music/2025/f...

This felt so fucking important

"No wonder the old dear is laughing, they must be raking it in." I can't remember what I did last week, and yet have compete clarity over my old man reviewing this while watching top of the pops

Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remember that this was an actual record. Completely barmy

Snacker T and the MGs

*flicks imaginary fringe* "Well Sylvian"

Was on a think sync/dogwoof-related party on a boat somewhere on the Thames, mid 2000s. Andrew Weatherall DJing. He played this. Saw him laughing as I legged it up to the decks to find out what it was. Wrong Meeting/Double Gone classic, sounds like the original, not a cover youtu.be/BUI1ZQf3AZU?...

O pioneer. Five years ago is nuts. Here's the piece I wrote for Ransom Note on his passing, interviewed loads of people, penned thousands of words and stil didn't even begin to do him justice… www.theransomnote.com/music/news/f...

Now watching Eureka's Laurel and Hardy silents Blu-ray. Battle of the Century, the greatest custard pie fight of all time

Finally found the perfect time to lie on a sofa, not move and watch this today. Jazzual. Revolutionary. Also very long youtu.be/_RwLdIiZk_8?...

Genuinely having one of those "when you're at Millwall at 3pm and A Love From Outer Space at 6pm" wardrobe moments
