Imagine the biggest problem in your life being about which bathroom a total stranger uses. Imagine pretending random people you'll never meet are somehow victimizing you with their existence. Imagine being that hard up for troubles that you have to invent them just so you can play the victim.

After an especially ear-splitting week of tantrums from Nancy Mace, Pete Hegseth, and Stephen Miller, I explore the question: Why does MAGA love adults throwing childish fits? It's connected to the Mar-a-Lago face and Trump's love of bad music. www.salon.com/2025/04/28/m...

Uh oh …

Eight! Holy shit. You’re all like Lech Wałęsa up in there. Such bravery!

I just learned my own brother has never seen the Raid movies and I feel I’ve failed.

April 26, 2025

Every now and then, I go look at old headlines. Here's one from the NYT on January 31, 1933, the day after Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany.

I think we should raise the salience of this.

recent polling is just a total repudiation of the idea that full spectrum opposition to trump across every area was/is a bad idea

Two headlines in the New York Times today.

"Today’s builders of Babel tell us that there is no room for losers, and that those who fall along the way are losers. Theirs is the construction site of hell." [Pope Francis, 18 April 2025]

Every single religious organization and denomination needs to raise holy hell about this - and never let these men have a moment's rest until this funding is restored. And if you tell me you are a Christian and think this is OK, I'll tell you that you have no idea what it means to follow Jesus.

The saviors Easter message:

On this #420day, we celebrate the 52nd anniversary of performers “Gail & Dale” singing the hit, “One Toke Over the Line,” on Lawrence Welk. Neither had an idea the song was about pot, and Welk thought the song was a “modern spiritual.”

I invented a new phone to help save time in the morning

Happy Easter, EVERYONE!! 👇 Seemed. Appropriate. Today. 😎✨

Angel of the Lord: He is not here, He is risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. Alito: Okay, first of all, this violates ALL sorts of rules Thomas: This was a LAWFUL execution, who is God to interfere

Your friendly reminder that it is literally a federal felony punishable by up to five years in prison for the President, Vice President, or any employee of the White House to directly or indirectly ask the IRS to open an investigation into any specific taxpayer.

That’s right.

“Are you worried?” That is always the first question. “Of course I am worried,” I respond. “The president of the United States considers me an enemy and has promised retribution. I would be an idiot not to be worried. But I am not going to give in. I will continue to fight.”

That’s called a “Staten Island book club”

That’s right.

I wish church leadership (in the ELCA particularly) would consider this. Instead, we get Alfred E. Newman.

This explanation from @leahlitman.bsky.social on why law firms are surrendering to Trump is really dark stuff: newrepublic.com/article/1939...

Donald Trump: “I’m going to run over a kindergarten class with a tank.” [Immediately jumps in a tank and does it, laughing maniacally all the way.] The Washington Post: “As Trump nears the 100-day marker, his true intentions remain inscrutable.”

Last weekend in Chicago, 1500 historians gathered for the Organization of American Historians' conference where leading scholars discussed little things like, oh, the fate of democracy. I guess if we add some horny Nazis next year maybe CNN will come out and listen to what we have to say?

Abrego Garcia's isolation is the death-in-life at the heart of concentration camp regimes. They want to present what they're doing as reasonable and therefore somehow legal while terrorizing targeted groups, claiming the power to exile anyone from society, even when it's clearly outside the law.

Glad to see we’re addressing the root cause of all of this: Luther’s heresy

"The Camp of the Saints" really gives away the game here. You might as well have "The Turner Diaries."
