I've just accepted that Ghost will never release music I'll enjoy again. Is this what it felt like being a thrash fan in the 90s?

Avenged Sevenfold is truly underhated. For a band making C-tier overproduced heavy metal with terrible vocals, they don't get clowned on enough for the sheer lack of quality.

Never thought that right-wing conspiracy nut jobs from like 4 years ago would be right about an eventual "great reset" for the stupidest possible reasons

My band Instagram 'For You' page (which now appears on your feed before any accounts you follow and the account has never used) is exclusively conventionally attractive goth women making engagement bait featuring the most popular "heavy" songs of all time.

Kind of late on this, but the latest Blood Incantation is incredibly overrated. I'm a big fan of Hidden Histories and Starspawn, but BI just doesn't have the songwriting chops to carry long tunes. You can only fade out from one riff and enter a totally unrelated section so many times in one song.

My main band's album is about done being mixed/mastered, and we're going into the studio in late April to mix 3 new EPs of material. Super amped to release a bunch of music I really care about and to have more professional sounding stuff to show to people!

Hour 50 of practicing sweep picking while watching TV. I still suck at it.

As someone who's worn corpse paint somewhat recently for a show, we gotta start reminding local bands that it is indeed dorky af and so far removed from any semblance of "cool" or "dark"

Got Covid last month and just spent this whole week bedridden with the flu. I've spent more of 2025 debilitatingly sick than healthy... not to mention being freshly unemployed with further grad school plans thrown out of wack and our government literally burning... tough year so far, ngl!

Kendrick dropping a "you picked the wrong god" AND a "40 acres and a mule" at the superb owl... iconic

My friends and I have unironically adopted most of these since the original 2019 article. In particular "New school duck-walk shit" and "pose exposed" have gotten quite a lot of mileage. "Instagram metal" and "Nothing music" are worthy and topical additions.

Saw Slowdive tonight, and the crowd was moshing/hardcore dancing the whole time. Zoomer shoegaze fans out here putting most local metal shows to shame!

I feel like not enough viewers recognize just how humorous Egger's films are. They're more like a Pynchon novel than your standard A24 indie/horror fare Saw Nosferatu this week and it's a nonstop over the top chucklefest.

I can tell a depressive spiral is in motion because I've been getting really into super hero media again

Just got laid off from my bartending job of a year and a half with no warning on Christmas Eve Eve! Feeling awesome rn

Daring to tread where no man has gone before, charting unforeseen territories and innovating by starting a music blog/substack in the year of our lord 2025. Yes, this is a good and profitable idea and definitely not something to exercise my writing and critical thinking muscles.

Forced to play exclusively Christmas music at work this week... is this a hate crime? (I'm Jewish)

I read a few novel-length metal histories this month (Christe and O'Niell in case anyone cares), and while they were both fine to pretty good, it seems almost all of the strictly metal music histories lack the punch of a Mike Azerrad or even Tom Briehan

Just a heads up, but with the exception of a few specific producers, you should assume that any and all drums in modern metal/hardcore are fake or at least quantized and sample-replaced to the point where they barely resemble the original performance

Nothing like sitting in a parking lot waiting for band practice/writing session on one of your few days off before 5 bartending shifts... listening to better bands like Pyyrhon and Sleepwalker just to feel something... it's these uber-specific vibes that get us through this hellscape...

Unlike Twitter, none of the half-remembered high school acquaintances are on here to worry about increasingly unhinged art posts. Time to go FULL THROTTLE on some boredom-fueled algorithmic spirals into the most pointless digressions

RIP to the best music column on the internet. It's safe to say my music taste and output wouldn't be nearly what it is today without the 10 or years I've spent reading this guy monthly. It was always a highlight! Pour one out for the greats...

Finally gave up on the hell app after months of diminishing interactions and my feed slowly devolving into the worst posts related to any of my respective interests... Hopefully this is better
