So, feeling low anyway cooped up inside and on crutches cos of a minor injury. But also just found out an old mate from college died recently. I wish I’d kept in touch but for reasons never did. Stay in touch w/ your friends everyone, cos you just never know when it’ll be too late to say hi again.

For all sorts of reasons the Green Party is the party I’d most like to vote for but am least likely to. www.lbc.co.uk/news/zack-po...

Seriously, this is a Labour government, right? They’re consigning themselves to electoral oblivion with every passing day. www.theguardian.com/media/2025/m...

Someone needs to protect me from my new hobby of buying clothes online. God, I hope the summer boho Hawaiian shirt look is in this season.

If Reform win in 2029, Labour might as well shut up shop. It's simple and stark: they will NEVER be forgiven. People will always know that it was a self-inflicted loss by some of the most blinkered stubborn people ever to enter politics. And gifting Britain a far right government is intolerable.

Intriguing report of the thinking of the Universities Minister www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/05...

Yep! Labour is going to sit back and just wash their hands of the whole HE sector.

Following my previous thread on the subject of Vatican thrillers, it may also interest you to learn that there is a whole other sub-genre of Catholic, specifically Jesuit, science fiction literature. Here are a few...

With all the focus on the election of Pope Leo 14, Robert Harris seems to have become the go to guy for comments on all things Conclave related. But his isn’t the only book in my favourite sub genre of Vatican Shenanigans. So if you fancy more of this sort of thing here’s a small selection.

Getting bored of these stupid leg injuries. Just checked and my WhatsApp etc messaging has exploded since I was relegated inside. Worst hermit ever!!!

The view from A&E yesterday. Prognosis - ‘Stephen, this is minor. We’re not taking the leg off and replacing it with a super powered robot limb.’ Official medical advice - ‘Stay indoors a bit more, yeah!’

Hey historians, but wasn’t Martin Luther an Augustinian too?

Super niche request/query; does anyone know if it's possible to download the Dove's Typeface anywhere for free? (I'm not expecting a single reply to this question 😁).

All done. I have a torn ligament and Prepatellar bursitis (aka Housemaids Knee), all of which are going to hinder my attempts to become the ultimate fighting machine by August.

Finally started reading this which I’ve had on my shelf for years. A kind of Russian 1984/Brave New World type thing. I forgot how boring literary fiction can be 😐

Attempting some excruciating leg exercises. It seems I have an incredibly low pain tolerance.

Suggestion to increase social mobility in the U.K. - make it illegal to base the value of a domestic property upon its location and fix the price of houses at no more than 10% of their material value. (Please note, I have not given this any more than two minutes thought).

If this guy isn’t frog marched straight out of Labour I’ll tut, like, very loudly. Either way, he’s gonna lose his shit, panic and join Reform isn’t he?

It appears Labour has made a Lib-Dem of me! www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Come on, Labour. Reform voters can tell the difference between a sincerely held racist policy and one cynically acted upon. This has all dignity of dressing up and acting like your ex girlfriend’s new boyfriend thinking that that will win her back.

Okay this is pretty cool 😎

FFS Hull 🤦‍♂️ Clueless conspiracy nut and all round ultra dim wit Luke Campbell (no relation thank god) gets voted in as an actual mayor. And to think we once had John Prescott and Alan Johnson representing us.

Now my knee is knackered with the very painful and incredibly butch sounding Housemaids Knee.

In today's Ancient Near East Today, Alexandra Morris discusses the little-mentioned topic of people with disabilities in ancient Egypt, and explores disability as a complex lived experience: anetoday.org/disability-a... 📸 Picture by Fixi, via Wikimedia Commons. CC By-SA 3.0.

Okay so I voted today. But if I’m honest, I hate that I have to vote tactically to keep out the party I don’t want instead of voting to endorse the party I do. And yes, I know in principle we should vote for our first choice candidates, but in a FPTP system that’s just not realistic.

I’m not saying anything new here, but exercise really is overrated when it comes to weight loss. And believe me, I exercise 5-6 times a week. I just spent a week sitting on my arse eating salads and lost half a stone.

Am at the train station waiting to board the 07:55 and just thought you good people might like to see Meg. She’s never less than giddy with excitement all the time.

If you were a horror author and you wanted to quickly establish that the evil bastards working for an evil organisation do seriously evil things, you’d have as their intro a scene of them, well, drinking out of skulls.

Deeeep sigh!!! Labour here basically running on a platform of admitting their opponents have better ideas.

Ah well, so much for my week off work doing a bunch of great stuff and catching up with friends. One busted foot and, well, let’s just say I caught up with a lot of reading and really upped my Boggle game.
