It perfectly encapsulated the feeling of togetherness that Helen set out to create in her writing. (4/4)

There was a continuous awareness of winter across cultures and different countries with Japan being my favourite trip to read about. I particularly enjoyed the constant use of phrases and words from different languages and cultures which created the winter vocabulary within the book. (3/4)

Helen offers a feeling of hope and the possibility of a brighter, more positive winter whilst continuing to be honest and open about the stress and sadness that this season can cause. (2/4)

I look forward to hearing more interviews and podcasts about the novel as @nussaibah.bsky.social was such an excellent speaker. I have been tracking this book for months and I can’t wait to finally read what is one of the most important debuts of 2025! (3/4)

Her openness and use of funny anecdotes created a warm and relaxed atmosphere. It was enjoyable to hear how humour is used as a tool for relief within the book which covers serious and complex topics. (2/4)

Books about everyday life and relationships are my favourite type of books to read and this novel is definitely one that I will be returning to. Rónán Hession is a thoughtful and honest writer and I can’t wait to read Panenka and Ghost Mountain. (3/5) @ronanhession.bsky.social

A rewarding read with many poignant and reflective moments, the novel offers its readers a moment to assess their own character and personality as well as pausing on the sometimes forgotten, simple moments of hectic, everyday life. (2/5)

And once the heart went, the other organs, all the other parts of the body that were there connected to it, they broke down too until the kind person fell over. Dead.’ - Christ on a Bike by @orlaowenwriting.bsky.social @ofmooseandmen.bsky.social

‘Cerys had a theory that good people were so kind and worried for others so much it damaged their hearts, wore them out like the soles on a favourite pair of shoes that had been trodden on for too many miles. (3/4)

A humorous yet unsettling story that makes its readers evaluate their own life and routine. Great locations, great characters and great read. I can’t wait to see what Orla and Bluemoose do next. (2/4)

Sensitive and tragic, Andrés N. Ordorica captures the joys of friendship whilst balancing the complexities and unpredictability of life that some face when entering adulthood. Each character is written in a thoughtful and delicate way. I cannot recommend this book enough. (2/3)
