Watch the WWII flying boat the Philippine Mars soar over the Golden Gate Bridge. The 80-year-old plane -- which lands and takes off from water -- made an 800-mile journey to the Bay Area from British Colombia and will retire at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona. abc7ne.ws/4hUawEy

The last operating Martin Mars has arrived in Arizona. Take good care of her Pima Air & Space Museum!

#AviationWeek first take on #Airbus hydrogen aircraft postponement story - fuel-cell engine flight tests canceled but SAF-fueled unducted fan and ducted turbofan flight tests on A380 testbed still full speed ahead for next-generation single aisle. #aviation #avgeek aviationweek.com/aerospace/em...

According to French Union FO Airbus could push back plans to have a hydrogen plane by 2035 and delay the project for 5 to 10 years, reports La Tribune. bit.ly/414PnBD

Boeing outlines the High Speed Commercial Vehicle concept developed under #NASA contract. HSCV is a four-engine aircraft with a Mach 4 cruise and 5,000 nm range. This is conceptual design for technology roadmapping and not aimed at a product. #aviation #avgeek aviationweek.com/aerospace/em...

We've been waiting a while, but Textron eAviation company Pipistrel has flown its Nuuva 300 uncrewed cargo #eVTOL. Designed to fly 600lb payload 300nm, Nuuva is hybrid-electric but first flight was all-electric (pusher cruise engine not fitted). Aircraft is loaded via raised nose. #aviation #avgeek

Ships and aircraft sneaking about the Earth’s northern latitudes are raising alarms with NATO allies, and Canada and Norway are looking to do something about it through new spacecraft aviationweek.com/space/satell...

The oldest flyable aircraft & oldest engine, in the World! Blériot XI, Shuttleworth Trust. When Louis Blériot flew his Type XI across the Channel on 25th July, 1909 it literally changed the world's perception of the aeroplane. This Blériot, #14, still flies but only straight hops these days. 🛩️📍

A fine illustration of the Mirage III 001 prototype of 1956. During its tenth flight, it reached a speed of Mach 1.52, the upper limit imposed by the shape of the air inlets. In July 1957, its air intake was fitted with a pair of movable half-cone shock diffusers known as "souris".

Steamy stuff. First look inside Pratt & Whitney’s HySIITE hybrid hydrogen/steam-cycle engine. Incredibly complex, but 35% lower energy consumption than today’s turbofans, zero carbon emissions and 99%+ NOx reduction. aviationweek.com/aerospace/em...

The Dassault Mercure, one of the rare attempts by the French aircraft manufacturer to produce an airliner, made its first flight in 1971. Similar to the Boeing 737 but faster, only 11 were produced for Air Inter, a victim of the oil crisis and its less versatile short-haul status.

Studied in 1942, the ‘CAPRA R.80’ was a seaplane project that would have been created to transport mail on the North Atlantic network. It was a tri-engine. It could not take off from the water, as its propellers were too low, so take-off was by catapult

Double-deck before it was cool. Air Wibault 100 was a large aircraft capable of carrying 70 passengers. It should have contained all the luxury of a hotel with a bar, restaurant, showers and sleeping facilities. The unfinished aircraft was destroyed by German bombing raid in 1940.
