The modern vibe: Musk is sleeping in the office and also playing Diablo IV fourteen hours straight. Trump is hard at work and also always golf. I suppose it cuts down a bit on the time they spend robbing us blind.

China's argument for years has been that the US created and exploits an order than enriches itself at everyone else's expense, and that the US isn't a good steward of the global economic (or climatic) order. Everything that has happened is grist for their argument, including naked corruption.

The economic crash is a big deal, but it's kind of amazing to think of all the other things going on: Ukraine, illegal renditions to El Salvador, mass attacks on trans people, women, and minorities in general (including erasing them), DOGE (remember them? They're still at it and worse), etc. Wild.

The best thing that could happen is this starts the end of these authoritarians. Milei as well. Putin gets defenestrated, like so many before him. The authoritarian world collapses. With that, we in the US get back on track, as we belatedly follow. I hope this ends Orban.
