At #INSAR2025, Alison Singer of @autismsciencefd.bsky.social publicly praised RFK Jr. for "shining a bright light" on high support autistics. No. RFK Jr. is going to wreak destruction in the lives of autistic people and families. We either oppose him wholly, or we will all suffer the consequences.

A shoutout to the gender diversity panel at #INSAR2025 who attended despite safety concerns about international travel for transgender+ people. We at the Autism Community Issues and Experiences were impressed by your submission and are happy you delivered a strong panel on important autism research.

Really grateful to everyone who participated in the #AutINSAR chat yesterday. You can continue to participate and respond to Qs about autism research priorities until 1PM Pacific on Monday May 5th. Thanks! #INSAR2025 #INSAR

Ok friends and #FAumily, you got me over here on BlueSky, so now please show me what you got. #AskingAutistics, What are your research priorities, concerns and noticeable gaps in the literature? Refer to thread and respond there to @thinkingautism.com #AutINSAR #INSAR2025

Such incredible minds doing internationally renowned work at #INSAR2025. Grateful to spend time with Dr. Perez-Liz after a seven year gap, and meet Drs. @drmbothapsych.bsky.social and @autisticdoctor.bsky.social in person. Plus always grateful to TPGA co-editor @autisticenough.bsky.social. -SR

As an autism community we should be coming together to defend and support the services and supports that allow autistic people to live a life of their choosing - @drstevenkapp.bsky.social Thank you Dr. Kapp for your continued leadership and advocacy at #INSAR2025 and beyond

A5 I like see more studies of autistics with FASD and other intellectual disabilities: let’s of people think you can’t have both but you can. That true with other idd too. #AUTINSAR

A 6 #AutINSAR I like see more Research on adoption trauma in autistic adoptees

A2 #AUTINSAR how videos games benefit autistic people. Reseach on sensory issues and why it causes us pain

#AUTINSAR A3 I am concerned research is focusing on controlling autistic people and not work with us. I worried research can be used to justify discrimination like promoting institutions and treatments that take away autonomy.

A4 #AUTINSAR the research that studies making healthy food more accessible to autistic people. The research about how frequency can help autistic person take break from stimming when they want too.

#AutINSAR #INSAR2025

A7 #AUTINSAR there no hybrid option for autistics who can’t travel. Also not allowing autistics to take picture for accessible notes with out difficult steps including requesting permission from every presentation and hard do that when I am late to presentation because kept getting lost.

A7 #AutINSAR gatekeeping information is not fun. And makes so autistics don’t get have access to importantly information

A8 #autinsar I think we need more research that debunks Mental age theory and show the harm of that theory and how it used to restrict rights.

Grateful INSAR invited a panel I suggested (first in fall 2023) on the research intersection of the neurodiveristy movement and autistic people with high support needs, at a time when the divisive, unscientific term profound autism threatens to get more entrenched. Great work by our team - powerful.

Another excellent and very thorough live-skeet of our panel today, for those who couldn't be there in person!

How to teach MH clinicians how to talk more like us; it’ll affirm our experiences and feelings and behaviors if we have therapists that actually understand our language processing differences.

Agreed. People with high support needs need DIFFERENT KINDS of support. Lumping them into one group does nothing to get them the support they need. In the US, our focus should be getting the government to FUND THE PROGRAMS they have in place.
