Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

A series of aftershocks followed the initial 5.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Julian, Calif., continuing for several minutes.

A post is going around with a teenager complaining on how writing 600 word essay without chatgpt as a tool is unfair, and if her parents got to use calculators for math she should be able to use chatgpt for writing. I've never felt so "we walked both ways in the snow" Righteous anger before lol

It's funny how often some disaster ends up with companies making record profits, isn't it?

Finished this Double-Feature poster for Leone's first two Eastwood westerns

Not to put too fine a point on the math here, but if we don't mine any of it, the supply will last forever.

Wash clothes: 45 minutes. Dry clothes: 60 minutes. Fold and put away clothes: 5 to 10 business days.

I've been looking through my collection of fantasy RPG PDFs looking for a game to play. During this process I found a few things I'd like to share with TTRPG designers. Like all free advice, it's probably not worth the price of the pixels it's written in. Nevertheless, here are my observations. 1/8

Traveling this past week and brought along my sketchbook to pass the in between times. I find flights are never long enough when I have my drawing kit with me! 'Again it leaped into the air.' Eowyn and the Nazgul 11" x 14" Watercolor pencil and Chalk on Toned Paper private collection

Being able to turn my hearing aids off, so I can sit with my family through the Super Bowl without having to listen to the announcers and commercials, is an underrated benefit of growing old.

Thinking, as I often do, about this missileer's dilemma as drawn by Emil Friis Ernst thenib.com/how-we-nuke/

I don't want to be on ghastly x anymore but it's where a lot of my sales come from so this post is a brazen request for shares to spread the word about my work on a kinder platform that isn't run by a dangerous megalomaniac! www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Sara... #selfemployedartist #ukgifthour #shopindie

What to tell your trainees, your students, your teams, and yourselves, when you feel the doubt and darkness encroaching: your work is under attack *because it matters* Keep at it.

This news arrives on the day after I cancelled my Microsoft Office subscription because they insist upon jamming AI into Office and charging me more for it.

Rob makes an interesting point in this thread. I turned down opportunities to work on secret programs over the years, because doing so puts one at risk of having to decide whether a pledge of secrecy outweighs other moral standards. Most people, even good people, never think about that possibility.

Word.
