Sitting in a dingy pizza place after leaving a hole-in-the-wall bar for a 10am football game a friend asked another, “what are you so afraid of?” He gave this some thought and then spoke sincerely about how he’s content with his life but always fears that he’ll look back with disappointment.

Caring takes many forms. Nurses, mail carriers, and garbage collectors all have active roles in caring for society. Another way of caring is through presence. A saying among chaplains is, “don’t just do something, stand there.” The next time someone you love is hurting try standing there. #therapy
