Universities really need to pay attention to this. It's not just about the indirects and frozen funds. If these layoffs continue, which by all signs are continuing and going well beyond probationary employees, ***these agencies will not be functional, including NIH, CDC, and NSF***

I find it so interesting watching US grapple with belligerent leaders. There’s such conviction that institutions will protect against tide of authoritarians. Maybe it’s the Egyptian before the hyphen but at its core politics is a story of who you’ve let hold the guns & where their allegiance lies.

I started working in research and grant administration in 2008, low state funding was an issue then, and has only gotten worse.
