Lunchtime 10km. Moorfield and environs.

Made it through a day, and a lunch, with unspoilt white chinos. I'm getting the hang of this wearing trousers thing.

The Armenian Taverna. What a spot for an al fresco lunch.

Many a great day out has started out in the back of The Devonshire.

I went to Jugemu and had the best Japanese food of my life. Perfect takoyaki, beautiful dumplings, some more intriguing dishes like bacon-wrapped mochi skewers, and tuna nigiri which was, frankly, breathtaking.

I loved Kol and I adored Fonda, and now I've finally made it to brothers Santiago and Eduardo Lastra's third operation - The Mezcalaria, just downstairs from their Michelin starred and 50 Best Restaurants listed Marylebone restaurant.

I love all the restaurants from the stable of Will Lander and his colleagues, but The Quality Chophouse might just be my favourite. It's in Farringdon, a short stroll from Angel if you've landed at Euston, so no excuses. Get the second cheap train down from Manchester and you can seated by 12:30pm.

Take a look at @heshootstheyscore on Instagram. A unique insight, through an extensive library of shots, into the characters and atmosphere of '90s football. A glorious, evocative nostalgia-fest.

He got a barking ticket etc etc.

The thing that keeps me sane at MIPIM, no matter what time I go to bed, is my morning runs. Being a Glossopian the organised runs around the town and La Croisette don't do it for me, I need hills and solitude.

Oursins-a-plenty in Cannes last week.

Weather-wise Cannes was seldom good and frequently awful, but MIPIM-spirits prevailed and I had an absolute blast. What an event and what a place. The Manchester stand in particular felt like an oasis on pragmatic optimism and deliverable certainty in a world gone mad.

Thw Sunday Times Best Hotel of the Year is The Peak District's own Cavendish Hotel. I'm Baslow, just over the hill from me. I was there recently and it was excellent.

Cannes do.

If you want to feel like a professional food photographer, take your shots on a crisp Spring day in @erst_mcr. It's one of very few venues where every image effortlessly and accurately reflects the bright brilliance of the food itself. No post-production necessary.

Getting the right accommodation at MIPIM is almost as important as wearing the right shoes. ZZZ have smashed it this year, I have a balcony and everything!

Front page of what is one of the world's great papers - The FT Weekend. And 'above the fold' too. What a thrill. I was chatting to Jancis Robinson and her husband, lapsed Mancunian Nick Lander, at a wine lunch in London late last year, telling them a tale of Manchester's burgeoning wine scene.
