Whilst being told that increasing defence spending to 3% is impossible without cuts elsewhere, we are also told that getting us back into the Single Market & Customs Union would add 4% to our GDP (IFS). We should also view absolute £, not just percentages. Surely that's the solution?

Watching Laura Kuenssberg, for my sins. Seems the Tory plan for increasing defence spending would involve taking money from the disabled and sick. Has nobody thought of taxing the rich more? Their marginal tax rates are already lower than the poor's.

This. There are really severe pressures on low-income households/those on working-age benefits)some renters. And widespread and serious destitution. But this is driven by *policy* (especially benefit cap/LHA/2CL) not "inflation", and is not a generalised "cost of living crisis".
