I got spooked by the tariffs and decided to protect my investments and reduce holdings by around 25%. The next day, Trump lifted all tariffs apart from China. The bureaucrat didn't care about the wider implications until a collapsing share market directly affected him and every single person.

Mastodon launched in 2016 with full decentralization, a robust app ecosystem, and has ~10m users today. BlueSky, newer and still in development, has 34M users. Simplicity and familiar UI often win over powerful but complex design.
