So much of what I've learned in the last year about tornado (and hail!) forecasting from the perspective of a chaser can be summed up with this: You want the most CAPE with the least water.

Can't wait to get my correct splint for my mallet finger vs the portion of a chopstick that I am currently using. I ran out of popsicle sticks.

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

While wandering through Chicago on a lunch break from the Flash Bus Tour with Joe McNally and David Hobby (Strobist/ @davidhobby.bsky.social), I stumbled upon this scene. #photography #dailyphoto

Great Blue Heron. This is from the same encounter as my pinned post. The bird is looking right in this view. It was such a great encounter, must post as it was a memorable moment. #Birds #photography #GreatBlueHeron #Herons #ArdeaHerodias

I knew where I needed to be when I saw her sitting there. Clearly, I was not there. #photography #wildlifephotography

Ok you got me, this isn’t Rome. It’s actually in the area of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on the UP of Michigan. I happened to be able to finally visit for the first time and during peak fall colors. It’s a trip that #photography #nationalparks #NPS

I get so disheartened when I get rejections from trying to get my foot in the door at various publications. It makes me think that I am not good enough. Maybe I'm not. I will keep learning. Keep photographing. And keep trying.

I headed out again to photograph the eagles just north of here, and while they were definitely more active, they weren’t exactly cooperative... #birds #birdphotography #wildlifephotography

I've been shooting Nikon for quite a while now, and this image is actually one of the first I captured with it. Read More... #photography #Nikon

I guess I will get in on the #SuperbOwl action. Here is a juvenile Great Horned Owl for a couple years back. #bird #birdphotography #wildlifephotography

Capturing fire can be a bit challenging. Different materials of course burn with different colors and intensities, and some are small flames. The first challenge was... #dailyphoto #photography #foodphotography

Yep, if you are going to cover something as a journalist, you need to remain impartial. That's your job. #journalism #photography #photojournalism

Frequently, more so for some like me, we don't have a clear vision of what our goals are. This storm chase was absolutely one of those moments where I had no idea what I wanted to accomplish. #photography #stormchasing #weather

I'll post some more on my website tomorrow morning. Just wanted to share a couple images from todays #protest at the #capitol #photojournalism

Working on my photojournalism skills. Went down to the WI capitol this afternoon.

Last summer, one of the main roads to and from the small town that I am currently "living in" (it's complicated) was closed to add a roundabout... Read More #dailyphoto #photography #wildlifephotography #environmentalism #climatechange

Whoops, you know what I forgot to do this week? I forgot to set up all my daily photo posts. Got a foxy one coming shortly. Stay tuned!

Quite a while back in my photography, I decided that food photography was the space I wanted to get into. While I very much would love to take on food and product photography, I also know the... #photography #food #dailyphoto

Well, I try to stay positive when I go out on a mission to photograph things and it doesn't work out. I still grabbed a couple images, but the eagles were just too far away for the gear I have and they were not active. I still got out for walk, and I still got to see about 8 eagles. So, it's a win.

Not doing so hot finding eagles. Alas, they may have moved on, or are just roosting as I’m a bit late and it’s not a great day. My 500mm just isn’t enough. Alas #birds #eagles

Dignity Dignity of Earth and Sky Chamberlain, SD Nikon D810 and Nikkor 24-70 f2.8 1/3200 f4 ISO 200 I actually missed this monument when I went out west the first time. This is Dignity which is a tribute to the various Native American tribes located in the region. Speaking of region, it sits along…

Well, heading out tomorrow to photograph some eagles. A little bit north of Madison along the WI river, you can find quite the collection right now. The congregate just a bit downstream of one of the dams, which is a pretty common area to find them. These are 2022 while just out driving. #birds

A key mentality that I have carried in my life since my 8th grade earth science teacher said it: “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know.” This isn’t a reason to give up learning, it’s a reason to celebrate that you understand there is always more. We should never stop learning.

I really don’t have the spare cash, but I am seriously considering finally getting a 95mm circ pol filter for my big lens. I’m planning to go do some eagle pictures on Monday What to do, what to do?

Wow, I just broke 500 followers. Thank you everyone who decided to follow along. I have a question. I’ve finally gotten in a habit of sharing a photo a day, and I am working to make more images to share. But, what other content do you want to see from me? What can I do to help you learn more?

When you head out west in the United States, you will see bison. My first time seeing them was actually in Yellowstone. This image however... #nationalparks #wildlife #wildlifephotography
