New story just dropped! Read "Three Plagues" by @ivygrimes.bsky.social for free on our website. Link in bio!

The DEI panic imo is the realization that even with every gate closed marginalized people create fantastic art. They've been forced to work on skill and not rely on nepotism/family money. The system is supposed to make it impossible and yet? Ppl still blow through it. Of course they're scared.

This is one of my favourite Joe Koch stories, and that's saying something from a writer with such a sublime body of work. This is a story seething with grief, and anger, and sadness. There's raw passion in every word. "The Power Company Detective", now free to read from Issue #12.

If you're a Black woman who's had any inclination to write a comic, submit your pitch for a story. You never know! Even if this will be your 1st comic, submit! You never know!

Before we hate on the Met Gala again, it is a CHARITY fund raiser to keep the Costume Institute open. In case you don't know, textiles take a lot of work, care, and money to preserve and study for future generations. That is where the money goes-- to textile study and conservation, not celebs.

I am so thankful that my poem, “Born Against Teeth”, is a finalist for the 2025 Rhysling Award! I wrote it after a dry spell, feeling self-doubt, recovering from a traumatic incident, trying to dig deep. It means so much to me that it’s been well-received and included in this fine company 💜

Since Alcatraz is in the news, did you know that in 1969 a group of indigenous protesters occupied and reclaimed the island for 18 months, becoming one of the most important moments for the American Indian Movement and contemporary Native American History?

I think, personally, the big reason you have so many people trying to prove Palestinians are scammers, is that facing up to the full horror of what we're doing in Palestine breaks the brains of Decent West true believers.

Today, May 5, is Red Dress Day - the National Day of Awareness for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2Spirit People. A day of solemn remembrance and action to honor the missing and gone and to fight for justice and safety for our sisters and relatives. amnesty.ca/features/16-...

I thought I was riffing with a reply guy until he blocked me. So, I guess we were arguing.

Bluesky reply people staying the worst

Been doing this neat trick of intentionality for the past few days where whenever I get into a spiral of worry or self-doubt I ask myself “would a bad bitch care about this?” and if she wouldn’t, I don’t

I am very pleased to announce that Thyme Travellers: An Anthology of Palestinian Speculative Fiction, my editorial debut, is now a Locus Award finalist!

This is a lesson for children, but niceness and civility are skills you need to get through a tea party with someone you're not wild about, not critical parts of adult public discourse. Policing lack of civility is a way for the comfortable to unperson the oppressed without feeling guilty.

We are thrilled to share the cover of Syr Hayati Beker's queer af novella in fairytale retellings. Art by the inimitable Carly AF. This book is a journey, so get ready to leave the world (and your ex) behind on September 4! Pre-orders are available direct from the publisher: www.stelliform.press...

Still on my bullshit (spicemaxxing, Dunepilled)

We're already living under authoritarianism. It's not "coming" or "approaching" - it is here now. Lots of vulnerable people need help. These are serious times.

Good news on this front! Seattle Worldcon will be refunding me my full membership. If you also applied to be a panelist and are pulling out of the con due to the genAI situation, contact their Registration team and cite the violations to the Privacy Policy in your request for a refund.

Thrilled to learn that my short story "The Pale," published last year in @eventmags.bsky.social, has been named as a finalist in the fiction category with this year's National Magazine Awards.

love when people get caught using LLMs for some important analytical task "to save time" and then they're like "don't worry we rigorously vetted the results." man....you either saved time OR rigorously vetted the results, but i promise you didn't do both

Alberta First Nations issue cease and desist order against Danielle Smith's attempt to create a national unity crisis. Alberta is on treaty lands. Those treaties were signed 30 years before Alberta became a province.

I am open for submissions! Particularly interested in BIPOC horror! There are links for both agents and for authors without agents to submit in my bio! #horrorwriters #horrorauthor #pinkhorror #amquerying #amwriting

So happy to share my new poem in Eye to the Telescope’s Plants issue!

Everyone keep an eye on ARB this Friday for "Reading Weird Fiction in an Age of Fascism"; talk it up around the water coolers, etc

Happy May Day!

I spoke way too soon and am suffering today. I hate this joke so much

On this day 80 years ago, Adolf Hitler did the one good thing he did in his entire life and killed himself. Happy Hitler Death Day to all who celebrate.
